huwcar
Hi Everyone, I'm going overseas for an extended period and selling plenty of my stuff off. I have noticed that the AUSID box no longer seems to be comercially available - is there still a demand for these boxes second hand? What would be a fair price to sell it for - $400 too much? Finally, anybody want to buy one? I'm in Melbourne (Elwood) - you can mail me on huwcar@gmail.com if you like. Cheers, -Huw.
huwcar
Hi folks, If there is a market for them, would someone let me know what a fair price to sell an AUSID box for would be? If it's not worth my while I'll probably just put it in storage with the rest of my stuff and use it when I return - no problems with it just trying to get as much cash together as possible for travelling! Cheers, -Huw.
dvduser
When you consider that you can now get a reasonable quality HD STB for under $300, I think that for a SH unit it's pretty well over-priced.
huwcar
It's not priced. That's why I was asking a genuine question and hoping for a helpful answer. Cheers.

Doug1503559538
You can buy a brand new Philips HD STB with full warranty for under $200 that runs rings around the AUSID for quality. The Philips has all of the latest chipsets. I would think an old AUSID STB is probalby worth sub $100, if anything at all.

Doug1503559538
Is an AUSID a Fujitsu brand ? I must remember not to offend Club Fuji members. Remember, blindness is in the eye of the beholder.
Foggy
Let me see now, Doug believes: That foxtel PQ is good enough that there is minimal difference between HD & SD FTA TV that the digital noise in low light scenes in his Philips STB is a cable problem when it's a deficiency of the video processing in the box you can't really notice the improvement of a HD DVD/BluRay on a 42" screen Please Doug, do us all a favour and go and get your eyes checked before you continue to dispense your sagely advice. Doug1503559538
Ooops what do you really mean Foggy? Even Foggy is entitled to his own opinion -as I am entitled to mine. I do think FOXTEL PQ is good enough - don't you ? I am sure I am part of a majority in this opinion. I would like FOXTEL to spend more money on improved content. When I worked at FOXTEL the cusotmers wanted better content not better PQ. On my 37" Plasma there was 0% difference between HD and SD FTA PQ. On my new 50" Plasma there is a small difference. No idea why I get blue sparklies from the Philips HD STB - some posters on AVS solved a similar issue by changing HDMI cables - this didn't work for me. I've only ever seen Blu-Ray at Myer Melbourne and I'm pretty sure it was on one of those nerw 42" 1080p Plasma's. The PQ looked pretty good - but then my 50" Plasma with a DVD also looks fine to me as well. I've decided to join Club Phili - Club Fuji is so last year ..... waveformkid
When looking at the AUSID, I would not consider it a CONSUMER model. The quality of the whole product is exceptional from start to finish.

I suppose someone shold give this guy an idea of price.....I would definately agree that around the $200 for an AUSID is not a bad price. This is a great box, but due to all the other HD boxes out now around this price, it would be hard to ask for more.
Guest gregster
My Ausid unit has performed brillantly for the last 2 years - until now... We just had poer outage & when it came back on, the external Ausid power supply no longer works :-( It's definatley the power supply too as I measured the outputs on the unit & get no volts at all. It's clearly out of warranty so does anybody have a phone number or contact details for Ausid so I can try to get a replacement? Cheers Gregster
