Vertical Green Line When Using 14:9 Ratio For 4:3 Programs On Foxtel.

Hi All,

I bought a LG 42PC1DV Plasma TV and used the option on Foxtel STB setup to show the channels with 4:3 ratio in 14:9 (instead of PillarBox). The only problem with this option is that a green line runs all the way from top to bottom, just on the right side of the screen in the "black" banner and I'm concerned that could burn pixels.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I'm using Foxtel Scart to Component Cable that I bought at Dick Smith.

Cheers,

Lui

I have an Hitachi 42", and had the same problem. I found that I could make it disappear by adjusting my contrast/brightness, but eventually I just gave up.

I'm running through composite again now, and I think the PQ is easier on the eyes than component! I've decided I'd rather see a slightly blurry image than a sharp and pixelated image. And the green line has gone...

My in-laws are using composite instead of component connections and I realised that there's no green line on their TV. Anyway, I find really hard to notice the difference on PQ between composite and component, by the time I swap the two connections, my eyes/mind don’t remember how was the other PQ

Thanks guys.

I have an old (5 years) Grundig CRT with IQ connected RGB (component) scart to scart. No green lines in that mode. A great picture.

I haven't noticed the problem since switching to an IQ.
