G'day,

AlanH said to reply in here to my question about not reciving Channel 10 on a new TV Tuner for the PC, where all other channels come in.

SBS is supposed to be coming in on 536.625MHz , but Windows Media Centre, which Ive een experimenting with the past couple of nights, with SBS coming in on 97MHz and 88MHz for some strange reason, no picture appearing but its been logged with the program

To be close to the towers, some asked where I am. In the Maroondah region of Mitcham, Ringwood and Croydon..Im a travelling person as well. So im guessing anywhere with line of sight of the towers are too strong for the Tuner (TV Tower on Mt Dandenong)

I was kinda after some advice on how to manually tune using Windows Media Centre....to specificaly get Channel 10

Also, Doesnt the Loop on 7 HD get boring after a few viewings

Internal or external antenna?

Does a conventional stb experience the same problem?

G'day,

Conventional STB gets all channels fine. And the antenna is external. It's a USB ASUS "My Cinema U3000" tuner, if that helps you

It seems to be a great tuner, recordings are something Im still experimenting with, but its all fascinating

Tks. Guess that's why u started the post where u did.

Can't really blame reception/antenna if a conventional box works ok.

Sorry can't really help with the PC card. They are often a bit deaf (PC's are ..... well quite good at being PC's and Digital Set Top boxes are usually quite good at being digital stb's).

It appears u r getting the VHF digital channels but not the UHF (SBS Ch 28). Maybe it's a set up thing??

I have seen very strong FM radio signals cause problems with reception, particularly TEN in the eastern suburbs. Without being able to analyse the signals with a meter, it's difficult to see what's causing your problem.

Signal overload is also possible in your location.

You could try an attenuator, (probably 12-24dB) and an FM filter for starters.

USB/computer receivers are often 'quirky'

STB tuners are generally more forgiving.

Thanks mtv, in a strange kinda way now...Im getting limited Ten reception. I've figured that the antenna on this tuner can be pointing in one direction and get no reception of some channels, while it's perfect in other directions it's pointing towards

I've also had the chance to try this out in Bendigo and Lara recently, with the best spot for reception in Bendigo being at the Drive Thru bottle shop outside of the town itself on the Melbourne side, presumably where the transmitters are closest (SC Ten were playing a HD loop it seemed like at the time, cant be too sure, no watermark on it though, but SC Ten was the label) . While in Lara, all I got was SBS
