Santa1503559644 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 As expected (well, by meteorological pessimists like Santa), rather than heading further out westward, cyclone George decided to make a bee-line for Port Hedland. This means ... potential destruction around Port Hedland and vicinity. ...and, like usual, by not going out west, no heavy rains for Perth. So ... in Perth, the usual progression of forecasts (Heavy rain for days ... Some rain some days ... a few showers ... a shower or two ... to the standard "the chance of a shower"! Bah! I wanted a good few hundred mil for the parched Santa Estate...
Thudd1503560234 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 The BOM just said that one of their offshore measuring stations reported winds of 275kph I don't ever want to be in the way of that!
Santa1503559644 Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 Reports now of as many as three dead.
Santa1503559644 Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 The poor guys who bought it appear to have been working for a slimey, corrupt, evil s-o-b to rub salt into the wounds! BTW: On the other subject (weather in Perth) - the very good news was that (fingers crossed, touch wood) no major fires started during the extreme heat the last few days, because the ferocious wind today would have made control absolutely impossible, not to mention massively spreading any firefronts.
