Hdmi Switches?

Recommended Posts

I don't want one of those fancy powered remote controlled switches. All I want is a manual physical switch so that I can hook up two or three (preferably three) HDMI devices up to my displays one HDMI socket.

Is there anything like that that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars?

Just got a DVI switch & some DVI-D cables from them - good service, good quality and not expensive

Has anyone every bought anything like this HDMI switch off of ebay?

Ebay Link

It's nice and cheap but mentions nothing about being HDCP compliant. Does anyone have any personal experience with this equipment?

I have a yamaha 2700 and use the AVR as a switcher. I am using the HDMI out to a plasma but know I'm considering a adding a projector to my toy's. Question can you use any of these switches to run to multiple displays. What I want to do is use my AVR the way it is setup at the moment and use the HDMI out to a HDMI swith and then use the swith to select the display. I had a look at the Kordz one and it seems to be able to do this but am looking for a cheaper alternative as I will probably upgrade my AVR next year agian when newer ones become available with 1.3 and possibly two HDMI outputs.

**EDIT** Oh I just realized it is not a swither that I need it is a splitter. ANyone reccomend a splitter. KORDZ one does not do 1080p.

I bought a HDMI splitter from monoprice in the US, used it to tun DVD to Plasma & PJ, didn't use it much so sold to DTV member. its one device in (say DVD player) and 2 out not the other way around. You need to email them first and they will give you a code as the order will not be accepted as we have no USA ZIP code.

I just received a 5 port box from Hong Kong of ebay for $100 delivered

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/5x1-HDMI-SWITCH-w-R...1QQcmdZViewItem

The quality is better than I expected BUT it has no on/off swich on the Unit so you have to switch it On and Off at the power point which kinda sucks.

However it has a remote control and comes with 2 HDMI Cables so I reckon it's great value

I have a monoprice splitter (bought from a forum member..maybe foxtail). But had no luck with RX-V2700->plasma/projector. I Think it may have been due to the cable run length to the projector.

Joytech is about to release their Trilink HDMI switch. Should cost less than $50 and be HDCP and 1.3 compliant...

Thanks alot for the info surroundfan. This is exactly what I was looking for for when I get my HDTV to go with my rotel rsp976 I just got.

$55 but $6 delivery from Dstore, surprised I thought they died many years ago. And it comes with an infra red extender too..

If your cables are short any reasonably made switch, splitter or cable would work (say less than 5 meters). If your cable run is above 5m, higher specs cables and switch will be needed if you want to use 1080p. In this case, the switch should support at least 1.65 Gbit/s per channel (24 bit colour) and preferably automatic equalisation to compensate for long cable runs. Better (thicker) cables would help as well (e.g. 24 AWG instead of 28 AWG).

If your cable runs are short (about 3m) there is no point of spending high $$s for supposedly better cables. Do these people selling expensive cables provide cable specs to backup their claims?
