you're a bit slow

OK digitalj , So I don't live on a forum like you do 24/7 !!

Other people that read these forums also don't scan every possible area. This is why I posted in Regional NSW forum.

All I can say is that 90% of your posts are just SPAM to this forum.

How about conceeding you were beaten rather than criticising the poster who pointed it out?

Timmy,

Before you make a comment in the regional forums, why don't you read some posts/threads you only have half the story mate. not the full.

If you really want to know. I was aware of the up grades before any public release was made.

I reason why I posted . There is a chance that a lot of settop boxes may not pick up the new channel or even not work at all. And it was in a area of the forum that 90% of don't check or read.

If you think that 90% digitalj posts are not SPAM then you must be a mate of his..

Well, on another note, do you know anymore about what will be broadcast on the SC datacast channel than what is said in the article? Is it likely to be on LCN 55 for SC10 digital viewers?

Hi,

Article sums most of it up,

LCN is most likey 51, There will be a small frame from the SD service on it,

Some sort of Ads

Channel Stream data is only going to be around 1.5Mb

With all the changes to the streams the HD service should also be +1mb

Expected launch date 1st April

is that +1mb so they can go 1080ix1920? Yes I know it doesn't matter to me, but it would make SC10's HD service even better again to what I have on TEN HD.

Seriously, will the changes to the HD channel be similar to those on metro TEN?

Ok I've read the article but I'ts still clear as mud what we will get on LCN 51.

What is a blog ?Sounds like what you get if you flush too much paper down the loo .

Can someone explain how your average punter would use this new channel and what would they get out of it.I'm imagining something like SBS LCN31 (used to be) but with adds on it and 'THE BLOG"

A VPG with "Teh blogs from teh internets" Looks like Southern Cross hasn't learned anything from SBS if this is the case. Hopefully 16yo Girls don't get on mytalk.com.au and turn it into Livejournal. :D

Looks like bandwidth is going down the loo too. Hopefully we get the 1Mb/s added to the HD channel like 128QAM suggested and it goes towards similar changes as TEN HD (1920x1080i as opposed to 1440x1080i now and bitrate added to the DD audio stream for the HD channel, possibly for DD5.1 in the future). Would much prefer the extra bandwidth going to improve the PQ of the SD and HD channels.

Maybe they'll have Southern Cross news and talk from their radio network on the audio stream.

I'm still wary of that April 1 start date.:P

Agreed

But what is a bloody Blog ?But how does the TV have anything to do with an internet site.(this one excluded)This is what I don't get .

Do you type in a question and see the answer on TV ??????

As Pauline would say "Please explain".

I don't get the connection between Internet and TV

Just read, and noticed:

People wanting to participate in a blog then log on to the internet site, which also provides webcasts of each of Southern Cross' metropolitan radio stations such as Sydney's 2UE and Melbourne's 3AW.

This makes it sound like blogs will not be on the channel, but on the new website, mytalk.com.au

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog

A blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.

Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of most early blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.

The term "blog" is derived from "Web log." "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Thanks guys.

But it all sounds like it could be done effectively on a computer on the internet.

How is sitting in your lounge in front of your TV going to let you interact with what appears to be a pile of dribble about someone elses life ?

Does interact simply mean selecting some of many pages of **** that is piped to your LCN51 ?

You can't with your STB UPLOAD anything to the station so it can only mean choosing what they send you.

If this is interactivity then its a load of missleading hipe.

The blog stuff will not be appearing on LCN 51

That's it.

So that gets passed off as datacasting?:D

What a waste of bandwidth. Looks like Southern Cross havn't learnt anything from SBS with thier (defunct) VPG.

Thanks guys for your comments on that .I think we've got a good Idea what its all about now.

I was thinking it was going to be something wizz bang and different.Hardly worth a rescan

Excuse my ignorance...what's LCN 51, and so forth mean?

LCN stands for Logical Channel Number.

128QAM has suggested (and he's usually right on these matters) that when SC10 launches their new datacast channel on 1 april that it will appear on LCN51

So a rescan on SC10 multiplex will give

LCN 5 = SD SC10

LCN 50=HD SC10

LCN 51=VGP (or what ever they call it)
