mgrobins Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Hi, I don't have a second pj to test this out at the moment but I was wondering if a HT setup using 2 pj's to create a scope image could be achieved by having dual outputs with 2 pj's connected (probably at custom res to make the aspect ratio correct) and setting the HTPC to span across 2 monitors. I know movies normally play on one screen and am unsure if generic software can be set to span them across multiple (I've seen displays do it but wasn't sure how the setup was achieved). Not sure how the line between the 2 would look either..... might be hard to allign. THis is just something i'm investigating as an option for a future HT setup with a scope screen. Currently i'm using an anamorphic lens but I've been inspired by gino's setup and am looking at future options .
Gino Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Hi Mike, You may want to check these out, they are threads on AVS of people trying to find a cheaper PC based solution to blending rather than buying the BlendZilla (DVX8022) that I am using: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=692824 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=715997 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=545554 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=693558 Hope it helps a little
sold Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I know movies normally play on one screen and am unsure if generic software can be set to span them across multiple (I've seen displays do it but wasn't sure how the setup was achieved). With any semi recent nVidia or ATI card and software that allows you to choose VMR it's pretty easy (Zoom Player would be my choice). Then set up the two projectors as one screen and set the software to ignore the aspect ratio and just fill the 'screen'. Not sure how the line between the 2 would look either..... might be hard to allign. That could be an issue. I've done it at a friends place (with a couple of fairly cheap presentation orientated projectors) and it didn't quite line up properly, though we didn't put in much effort. More noticeable was the colour difference though (but I'd assume with some decent projectors and calibration it wouldn't be such an issue). the BlendZilla (DVX8022) that I am using: Was does the BlendZilla do exactly? Send half the lines to one projector and half to the other or something else? EDIT: Nevermind found this which explains it
Gino Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Yep.. that's exactly what it does... the trick is making the blendzone invisible.
