sulimo Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Too bad there's hardly any titles there I'd be keen on owning. Aside from Kingdom of Heaven. Anyone know how the transfer of A Knights Tale turned out? Also is the 5th Element transfer as bad as I recall hearing?
momaw Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 he he, put some in my cart and went to checkout - extra 10% off worked. Now I wonder if their wishlist price guarantee applies?
Taki Posted March 6, 2007 Author Posted March 6, 2007 he he, put some in my cart and went to checkout - extra 10% off worked. Now I wonder if their wishlist price guarantee applies? I haven't shopped with Amazon yet. How do you get the 10% off?
momaw Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I haven't shopped with Amazon yet. How do you get the 10% off? ah, it was a special offer at the end of last year, if you bought 3 HD titles (either format) from them they gave you an auto 10% of every high def purchase for the following 12 months. At up to $30US a pop for discs it is a worthwhile saving.

Time to send an email, lets see how well the 30 day guarantee works. Andrew. wonder how long before the HD DVD 50% off sale ? which 30day guarantee is that? aha, found it Post-Order Price GuaranteeAmazon.com's prices for released items will change from time to time based on a variety of factors. If Amazon.com's price for an already-released item decreases within 30 days after we ship the item to you, we'll be glad to refund the difference in price if you contact us. Please click one of the buttons on the right, and be sure to have your order number handy so we can assist you. This Post-Order Price Guarantee is subject to the following restrictions: * Applies only to products that have already been released. Products that have not yet been released but that are available for pre-order from Amazon.com are not covered by this guarantee, but do benefit from our Pre-Order Price Protection program (see section above). * Applies only to items sold by Amazon.com, and not to items (or prices) offered by other sellers on our site. * Item prices that are affected by a promotion such as "Buy one, get one free" are not eligible. * The price of an item after rebate is not considered to be the Amazon.com price. And I had already sent a pretty please email, oh well, should they say no, i'll email them again and quote this.
AndrewW Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 d'oh OK, I have the following in my shopping cart HDNet World Report - Shuttle Discovery's Historic Mission Kiss of the Dragon scratched due to crap transfer Behind Enemy Lines Fantastic Four X-Men 3 - The Last Stand The World's Fastest Indian Memento Tears of the Sun crap transfer House of Flying Daggers crap transfer Kingdom of Heaven (Director's Cut) Grrrrrr Andrew.
momaw Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I heard Tears of the Sun was a good transfer? House of Flying Daggers isn't crap, just not the best. It is better than any SD transfer though and has uncompressed PCM audio. Fantastic Four should be scratched just for being total crap but I suppose I did get AVP
AndrewW Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I heard Tears of the Sun was a good transfer?House of Flying Daggers isn't crap, just not the best. It is better than any SD transfer though and has uncompressed PCM audio. I based this on the reviews at www.dvdtalk.com, they normally seem to be harsh but fair Fantastic Four should be scratched just for being total crap but I suppose I did get AVP Jessica Alba in HD Andrew.
momaw Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I based this on the reviews at www.dvdtalk.com, they normally seem to be harsh but fair Jessica Alba in HD Andrew. yes Jessica, but wouldn't into the blue be better - swimsuit. (dats me in da bushes watching )
AndrewW Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 yes Jessica, but wouldn't into the blue be better - swimsuit. (dats me in da bushes watching ) stop it mo, I'm trying to make the order smaller, not larger ... I wonder how long these prices are valid, I'd like to get my $15 credit applied before hitting checkout ... Andrew.
AndrewW Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 bugger! Thanks for your order, Andrew!Memento (Blu-Ray) HDNet World Report - Shuttle Discovery's Historic Mission [blu-ray] Kingdom of Heaven (Director's Cut) [blu-ray] Fantastic Four [blu-ray] Behind Enemy Lines (Blu-Ray) X-Men 3 - The Last Stand [blu-ray] Casino Royale [blu-ray] The World's Fastest Indian [blu-ray] With the $15 in credit I will get from my previous order, that works out at just under AU$25 per disc. Not bad at all. Andrew. ok, so now that the excitement is over, has anyone considered the motivation or ramifications of this sale ? 1. It will obviously boost sales, and therefore more weight to the (incorrect) "the war is over" argument, or 2. The higher prices of BD is killing sales, and they need the sale to kick start sales of discs ... Andrew.
momaw Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I find it hard to believe they would heavily discount their best selling format and leave the supposedly poorer selling format at full price. Amazon are in it for the profit, not the winners trophy.
betty boop Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 wow cheap prices. good to see atleast one of the formats going out at firesale prices
momaw Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 How much does Amazon normally sell BD? 10-20% off? usually best is up to 33% off.
kamma Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 my interpretation of this sale is that they have some old BR stock and want to clear it nothing sinister here at all
momaw Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 my interpretation of this sale is that they have some old BR stock and want to clear itnothing sinister here at all no one suggested it was sinister. But with a limited title range available and so many new players on the market thanks to the PS3 it does raise questions as to the voracity of some of the real sales figures. No need for a sale like this if all is as rosy as the BDA claims.
