ah, it was a special offer at the end of last year, if you bought 3 HD titles (either format) from them they gave you an auto 10% of every high def purchase for the following 12 months. At up to $30US a pop for discs it is a worthwhile saving.

I heard Tears of the Sun was a good transfer?

House of Flying Daggers isn't crap, just not the best. It is better than any SD transfer though and has uncompressed PCM audio.

Fantastic Four should be scratched just for being total crap but I suppose I did get AVP

ok, so now that the excitement is over, has anyone considered the motivation or ramifications of this sale ?

1. It will obviously boost sales, and therefore more weight to the (incorrect) "the war is over" argument, or

2. The higher prices of BD is killing sales, and they need the sale to kick start sales of discs ...

I find it hard to believe they would heavily discount their best selling format and leave the supposedly poorer selling format at full price. Amazon are in it for the profit, not the winners trophy.

no one suggested it was sinister. But with a limited title range available and so many new players on the market thanks to the PS3 it does raise questions as to the voracity of some of the real sales figures. No need for a sale like this if all is as rosy as the BDA claims.
