Is Perth heatwave heat 'desert' heat from the interior and dry, or is it 'tropical' heat from up north and humid? Been to Alice Springs in the 40s and it wasn't too bad with regular injections of Carlton Draught.

However if it's 'tropical' heat, even Swan won't help!!

Liberal senator Ross Lightfoot has slammed a "spurious" report of his share trading in a West Australian-based mining company, saying he made just over $100 on his options.

Fairfax newspapers reported on Wednesday that Senator Lightfoot, from Western Australia, bought share options in Precious Metals Australia (PMA), a client of disgraced former WA premier Brian Burke and lobbyist Julian Grill.

The purchase was reported to have been made just days after the pair (Burke and Grill) doctored a state parliamentary report to favour the mining company.

Senator Lightfoot, acting deputy president of the Senate at the time, used parliamentary privilege to attack Swiss mining group Xstrata's treatment of PMA soon after he bought one million PMA options, the reports said.
