cineboy Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 link to popcorn machine From time to time, the same 1.5 metre tall popcorn cart turns up for sale at: www.dealsdirect.com.au Both OO and Deals Direct are worth keeping an eye on; they're pretty much identical in terms of what they carry, but the prices do vary. From memory, only a few months ago, the Deals Direct price on that same cart was quite a bit less (about 300 + shipping). I've not used OO, but I've used Deals Direct twice and have been happy enough. The service was good, the prices reasonable and the products were better than expected for the money (especially the air hockey table purchased for $145 delivered!) From time to time, DD also flogs video projectors and other home theatre friendly stuff like fairy floss/cotton candy makers and hot dog cookers. Cheers Cineboy
Santa1503559644 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 If the ghost of Charles Darwin had any say in it, he'd make sure there was a little wiring fault in the unit! Talk about the perfect accompaniment to a encore presentation of Big Brother! Leave your brains at the front door! There really is too much money floating about in this boom economy! What next? Paying really tall people to sit in front of you? Finding someone to cough their guts out behind you? Putting used chewing gum on the seats before you sit down to watch Big Brother/60 Minutes?

c912039 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Whilst the idea of having a popcorn machine in my HT room is not something I would consider desirable, I have in the past investigated this topic, over on AVSForum. And it appears that not all popcorn machines (and Im talking the kettle variety, not the hot-air models) are created equal. There seems to be many suggestions that you get what you pay for - and expect to pay (even with discounts), over AU$600 for a decent model. There are some limitations to the cheaper units. I would suggest that you research this in depth over at AVSForums, before spending that sort of money on a machine - you may be disappointed. Regards

Andre281503560612 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Even the reviews in that link don't seem to be great. One claims the heating is not strong enough, and the second reviewer basically says the same thing, claiming it is inefficient, pooping only 10% of the kernels. It sure does look great though.
dan76n Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I saw one in K-mart for under $300. If I wanted one I would get it from there as at least I know if its crap I could take it back..
