ajm1503559545 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Yesterday I was trawling around Ebay, as you do, and saw a listing for a Mitsubishi HC5000, an Epson TW1000 and about three or so screens. The HC5000 is in my sights so I was really keen to keep and eye on this one - starting price of $3500 and a BUY NOW of $3999 and supposedly with a full 2 yr Aus warranty. Bargain big time - or so I thought for a couple of minutes. I sent the guy a couple of messages and got one reply that half answered one of the queries and ignored all the rest. With a "0" rating and three days of membership I shouldn't have bee suprised when..... Well... seems the seller "ozprojectorman" disappeared within 4 days of existence and so did all the listed items. So did anyone else see this shooting star? Here's hoping no one got it in the neck though.
brett134 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Hey ajm, I didn't see the guy you mentioned. I thought i'd post this fella though to see if you know anything about him http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mitsubishi-LVP-HC50...1QQcmdZViewItem they are the same mob as elegance screens if that means anything to you. As they are in sydney i'm hoping to go down through the week and get a demo of this and a few other projectors. It says 12 month warranty with them, but on the mitsubishi website it states 2 years, so don't know whats going on there... I called them up yesterday and they said they do trade in's on projectors and they the tehy would give me around 1400$ (which falls short of what i need to get the missus approval, LOL) for my ae900 (didn't mention the extra lamp, so don't know if they'd give me a little more for that or not...) Do you know anything of this mob? Cheers mate.
Maton Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 that sydney guy is a bit sketchy. he has projectors which are a grey import, the infocus ones for example come with a 12month globe warranty and his are only 3 months. Any warranty issues have to go back to him as no other stockist in australia will touch or repair them under warranty. He makes next to nothing on the projector but has about a 300% mark up on the screens
ToeCutter Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 He makes next to nothing on the projector but has about a 300% mark up on the screens I was thinking of buying one of his 110" screens for $590. Now you're making me think twice...
ramius Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Maton If you don't mind me asking - where did you get those figues. Was thinking of taking a look at his tab-tensioned electric screens which are cheap by comparison with the mainstream guys. That doesn't necessarily mean poor quality - Elite in the US seem to do a decent product for similar $ - but hard to imagine this would be the case with a 300% mark-up. Cheers Billl
Maton Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 i came across this guy after talking with a rep for infocus. Hes sellng the projectors basically for cost as he gets the screen for dirt cheap and flogs them at stupid prices. He imports everything which is why all warranty issues have to go back to him. Ive heard mixed reports for this guy but i wouldnt be rushing out to buy anything from him
