Are peoples plasma's/lcd's refresh rates causing problems here with fast moving action not having neither of those displays I cannot tell if that's the problem on top of the poor pq

cheers laurie

Maybe some locations are getting better PQ from 7 than they did from 10? It Certainly was the case here in Melbourne imo - the litmus test for me is always what it looks like thru my PJ on my 92" screen and there was a 5% minimum improvement in overall detail levels from 7 - even on my plasma I noticed a lot less compression artifacts compared with 10.

Not on mine, even stationary objects had poor picture quality.

I don't believe that I am being unreasonable in expecting Ch7's quality this year to be at least as good as Ch10's was last year, and the year before that, and the year before that. But, it wasn't. If V8TV was using exactly the same equipment (cameras, etc) as last year, then Ch7’s broadcast is to blame. To make it even more obvious, V8TV are claiming improved equipment this year. So it’s double blame on Ch7.

According to my DVD recordings, Ch10’s coverage was pretty much the same picture quality for 3 years. To my eyes, Ch7’s coverage is noticeably inferior to that broadcast by Ch10 since 2003. I don’t think I am being unreasonable in expecting an improvement over a 4 year period, instead I get a backwards step.

:D cheers :P

I was watching on my 80cm CRT.

This is in Brisbane, and the SD digital channel.

Definitely noticeably lower PQ than last years coverage from 10.

Andrew.

Which of your tuners are you using to view 7?

Which of your tuners are you using to view 7?

All 4 tuners ie; the Sony 40X built in HD tuner, Panasonic SD STB, analogue tuner in the Sony 40X and analogue via FoxTel IQ STB. I have done the viewing comparisons (Ch10 versus Ch7) via a Sony SD DVD on both the Sony 40X and the Panasonic 80cm CRT.

No matter which way I look at it, Ch10’s coverage from 2006, 2005 and 2004 has noticeably superior PQ than Ch7’s 2007 coverage. That’s using the same Sony SD DVD recorder.

I also believe that the audio coverage is inferior on Ch7 as well, but it is not always as noticeable. It could be argued that microphone placement is the difference. But, since the same trackside crew are being utilised, I don’t believe that to be the case.

I am looking forward to comparing Ch10’s coverage of the F1GP this weekend and comparing it to Ch7’s V8 coverage. That will give me an indication of what I am missing out on with the change to Ch7 for V8SuperCars.

 cheers :D
