Yes, you are correct. Sorry, didn't realise I shouldn't have listed a cost price.

Apparently most stores have received a demo model and they will be getting their supplies in soon. My mate is only getting allocated 2 - 1 of which I'm taking. He gave it to me for $869 (not bad). Means I can now get rid of my unreliable Digicrystal. Had a look at the demo and looks very impressive. Only thing I noticed from playing around with it for 5 minutes was a slight delay in remote control reponse.

well, it was only a matter of time now

I bought one from Good Guys @ Chatswood (NSW) for $990 on Wedneday. They'd just hit the floor, and weren't even on the shelves yet. It came with 3mths free subscription to icetv, but when I tried to redeem it online, the icetv website said that Topfield hadn't yet sorted the ice integration for the 7000, and to "Stand by".

As a matter of interest Sydney HiFi in Castle Hill were quoting $700.00 for their floor stock on the basis of poor PQ and other bugs.

Spoke to Syd HiFi and they said they're not selling any (due to superstores selling so cheaply) so they will return their boxes to Topfield.

I bought mine yesterday from Good Guys Brighton (Melb. VIC) for $990, along with Sony DVPNS76H upscaling DVD player for $170.

The long story for those in Melbourne mid-south-east suburbs:

I did the rounds last Friday week, scouting for prices and with no pressure, simply asking the standard "what would I expect to pay" got the following:

- $1100 Harvey Norman Moorabbin

- $1100 Dick Smith PowerHouse Carnegie

- $1100-1050 Good Guys Brighton

- $1050 Retravision Brighton (though don't generally stock 7000pvr, have to order in special)

- $1000 JB Brighton (though this was the one place I did mention $1000 on the web).

So I'd expect with a little pressure, they'd all do $1000 without too much effort. I like buying from Retravision and Good Guys when I can.

At Good Guys I asked for $1200 for Toppy, Sony DVD (generally $179-$199) and 2xPanasonic 1.5M HDMI $60 cables (looked good qaulity and said 1080p).

The best they would do was $1230 for the lot. I ended up getting cables elsewhere and the price went back to $1160.

And for those that might be interested, I had read good things about Kordz HDMI cables in other forum sections (and wasn't too keen on the Panasonic cables only in white), so went down to Radio Parts in Carnegie. Ended up buying 2m Kordz (Krystal Copper) and to mix it up, a cheaper but quality import 2m Pro.2 (they were using in shop). I thought I'd asked if they could move on price, and to my surprise dropped Kordz from $49 to $39, and Pro2 from $35 to $29. Which took me nicely back to the discounted cable price from Good Guys of 2x$35.

Both cables are performing well without issue, and it is true that you can tell the difference in DVD image using upscaled HDMI over component (from that same Sony DVD anyway) so I'm happy with that also.

I managed to snag one on Sunday from HN (Watergardens), in Melbourne, for $1,000 (bought at the same time with the Pana 50" PX600a).

Sticker price was $1199.

I spoke to a steve the av manager at good guys hoppers crossing and he said he would do it for somewhere between $1000-$1100 but I had to come down and see him to confirm price.

I am seriously thinking of getting one as they have em in stock and that seems the best price going atm.

G'day Automan,

I got a flyer in the mail again this week from GG Hoppers Crossing. They have 17.5% of storewide sale on, from 24 May to 27 May (Thursday to Sunday) this week.

Edit: Spoke to Steve and this sale is only for VIP customers who have the card sent to them in the mail. (on their mailing list)
