nguyen1503560461
Hi everybody I have a MG-350 unit (in the living room) to stream all video from a file server running W2000 (in the garage) to a Pana plasma. The file server is an old Pentium4. I would like to put a digital TV turner card in it just for TV recording. I am trying to find a card that: 1. recorded MPEG files (SD or HD) can be played directly by MG-350 (without any conversion) 2. running in W2000 3. with some kind of scheduling software (in W2000 of course) Twin or single turner is ok. Viewing is not an issue as I intend to use MG-350 for playing. I did some homework, but could not find any info regarding point 1. Please help. Thanks. trikimiki
I am trying to find a card that:1. recorded MPEG files (SD or HD) can be played directly by MG-350 (without any conversion) I did some homework, but could not find any info regarding point 1. Please help. Thanks. I am sure there are some around that do the conversion as it records but sometimes the scheduling software that comes with them is terrible and reduces the usefulness of the card. I use web scheduler for recording to .ts format and then use a small add-on that is part of the WSMPP package to autoconvert the recordings into mpeg after the recording is finished. The original recorded TS file is autodeleted and the mpeg sits there waiting to be watched. This approach Works well, and most importantly, there is no maintence required apart from deleteing watched files and scheduling your programs in webscheduler. I know this is not what you asked, but you might find that a solution such as this might allow you to open up your options regarding the type of card you purchase. hope this helps trikimiki
Mcrackn
Webscheduler is the best.

I did not know about the auto conversion, will have to find out a bit more about web scheduler. Now I just have to find a card that works with W2000 and web scheduler. Thanks again for your help. dogsrus
I use a DNTV DTV card and sw, so in Web Scheduler I have the option of mpeg 2 mux recording, works perfectly with the MG350HD without conversion, just play back straight from the PC, and I can even play back while recording in WS, and actually catch up to live TV. falco
I use a Nebula card with DigiTV software. The MG350HD can play the .mpg files without any other processing.
murrayt
While using it includes conversion, Using VideoRedo Plus you will probably find is beneficial, given that you can trim the file (top and tail) and remove any unwanted bits like ads etc. The benefit is that the playback starts at the beginning of the show, so no fast forwarding through the first 10 mins or so, and the file size is reduced so less disk space needed, and any recording/reception glitches in the file will be repaired. Well worth it
