Eoi: Richter Thor Mkiv

Recommended Posts

Im thinking of downgrading from my Richter Thor Mk IV to something in my opinion which offers similar performace but in a smaller form factor (namely either the REL T2 or T3), as the room really isnt big enough to accomodate the Thor. Therefore, I am curious if any members locally here in Perth are interested. I have all packaging and the unit doesnt have a scratch on it. I am open to offers, but am not prepared to go below $690. Buyer will have to organise pickup (I "may" be able to get it to a central location i.e Perth CBD).

PM me if you are interested.

I am throwing this up on EBay on Wednesday at a starting price of $690 if anybody is interested.

Think its a tad too high, I paid $80 more for a new one, best of luck.

While you may have ONLY paid $80 more, that was the exception rather than the rule. This unit is in impeccable condition (a full warranty will also be supplied) and has all box and packaging. As these units are current, and retail is $999, I think this price is fair. People are obviously allowed to differ.

I'm sure you will know what its worth soon enough, best of luck with it Mark.

Cheers.

At this point the sale is not set in stone, so just taking it all on board. Oof course, anybody secretly interested in the purchase of this unit will naturally tell me its too expensive...who wouldnt!!!

Given that they are available new from harvey norman for $800 or less, I will have to pass.

Good luck with the sale on ebay. There are plenty of buyers there unaware that new audio equipment typically sells for at least 20% off retail so you may get your asking price (or more).

Hmmmm, 20% off $999, wouldnt that be about $800?

Guys, this thread is about expressions of interest. If youre not interested, please dont post.

Mark, we're not having a go at you, just posting what they can be had for new these days, as you say its the price you want, so go for it.

I know youre not foxy, but I am noticing a worrying trend on these forums where people hijack FOR SALE threads, with the intent of causing the loss of the sale.

If I dont sell it, its no biggie. I love it anyway.

This forum is about exchanging information. It is perfectly valid for me to post what the typical price of a new Thor subwoofer so that anyone considering it can decide for themselves if the price you are asking is fair or not.

It is not your place to tell other members of this forum whether or not they can post in a thread you have started when the information is clearly on topic.

If you do not wish discussion of the item you have for sale then do not post in a public forum. Place an ad in a newspaper or put it on ebay.

And yes 20% off $999 is $800. In my original post I said at least 20% implying that people can get this for less than $800 brand new. A search of this forum will show a number of people have achieved a sub $800 price. Given your sub is used then I will leave it to potential buyers to decide if $690 is a fair asking price.

Best of luck with your sale.

Whether or not you seem to think the price is fair or not is irrelevant, I have asked for expressions of interest. What part of the title dont you understand? Are you familiar with the term "Expression of Interest"? Grammatically challenged perhaps? This is a public forum, and yes you are free to post, but in the interest of getting along and maintaining some form of healthy co-existence, could you not respect my wishes and only those who may have an expression of interest to post only? Obviously you have no intention of purchasing which is fine, but dont hijack a thread simply out of spite.

Do you know what annoys me. People clogging up this forum with for sale posts. However the moderators and other forum members consider it acceptable postings so I just ignore them.

Perhaps you might consider doing the same to the perfectly acceptable postings that foxtail and I made in this thread. Then he and I would not respond to your comments (and you cannot expect us not to respond to the comments you have made regarding our posts) and your thread will be closer to your vision of ideal.

This will end my contribution to this thread (unless of course you choose to respond to me).

Good luck with the sale.

I dont see a problem with people putting up anything for sale, maybe there should be a seperate section for it but thats another story. Gets to me when people put their 2 cents in for what they think its worth when you already have a set price, take it or leave it. Different story if someone is asking what the item is worth or what price they can get something at. I seldom advertise on forums due to the fact there are always these responces whether it is cheap or not. Good luck with it but if you think its a downgarde to a REL i think you have a screw loose

Yes ,It really is bad form to post negative commentary in a thread unless the poster is a known shyster. If some one has a problem with a for sale thread the polite thing to do is send a pm to the seller addressing your concerns.

I agree Gordon.

I have said it before also, it is poor form to come into a for sale thread with no intention of purchase but quite happy to tell the seller he is too dear or that it can be purchased more cheaply elsewhere..

If I am going to buy something I will haggle until my waggle drops off, but to quote prices openly with no intention of ever closing the sale is a little bit off IMO.

PM for the win.

Got mine recently from HN for $699. However, that probably was an exceptional deal. If I didn't know any better, I probably wouldn't balk at $690 .. especially with the extended warranty.

My slant is giving advise as to what current prices are should help any seller to have an idea as to what price it should be, not for beating the price down. Buyers of a sub of this caliber in the main would know what they can be had for. No offence is offered by me and others.

I live in Perth and will take it off your hands for $500 if you have exhausted all options/ebay auctions/etc and have not been successful in selling the item

No offence intended champ....just giving you a worst-case scenario option
