Muscle_20
Hello all, im new to the forums here, and i am in search for some advice, as i'm interested in getting Select TV. 1- In regards to Equipment Compatability, i have a 65CM Satellite Dish, and a HUMAX IRCI-5400Z Satellite Receiver, i know this box accepts IRDETO, but not sure if it supports IRDETO II....anyone know if my box will be compatible? Humax states the following for my box, but according to lyngsat, it uses IRDETO II not I "IRCI-5400Z has Embedded Irdeto and Common Interface for VIACCESS™, CryptoWorks™, Conax, NagraVision and more. " IRCI-5400Z is your choice to enjoy Irdeto pay channels without Conditional Access Module. Also IRCI-5400 provides you Common Interface standard. " So am i in luck? 2- If i subscribe to Select TV, will i be able to watch Free to Air channels like, 7,9,10, SBS and ABC via the satellite receiver in digital format without the need of anything additional? 3- During raining days, does the signal drop out or break...as my current satellite tuned does it occasionaly on bad weather...im thinking its maybe as ive done the tuning and i might have not done it perfectly....will a professional satellite tune ensure that in bad weather the signal still remains strong? If anyone can assist me with answers to my 3 questions, i will highly appreciate it. Thank You
wahroonga farm
Hi Muscle 20, 1. 5400z is fine for Irdeto2 & Selectv on Pas8 2. Nope. Selectv has only the programming shown on Selectv.com.au. Only Fox and Austar provide the commercials for certain Capital city customers as a sweetener. 3. Yup! Depends where u are in Aus, but a move up to an 85cm may reduce but still not eliminate rainfade. It's a Ku thing. So I guess most of your worst fears realised
mtv
Also, it depends on your location (which you haven't mentioned) which (minimum) dish size would be best suited. As you have done the dish alignment yourself, the accuracy may depend on what type of instrument you used to measure the signal.
Keepleft
The gentleman could install for Select TV and the ABC and SBS state networks off D1. Two sats on one dish. Wharoonga can fill you in for that.

Keepleft
Horst, Does your Humax give you Select TV's full 7day EPG - for the channels where it is transmitted? Not used at Humax with Select, yet.

Guest tasgreg
Hi I need some help plese....... Just re-pointed my dish to IS8 and I have good reception. The FTA + SelectTV cards. I received my card tonight and activated it (a few times) but it wont activate. I have an old Topfield 4000PVR with an "irdeto access" CAM (ver0.07b -- softcell ver 2.06bCI july 4 2001) I can menu the CAM and can see it and the smartcard details but no activation. Is the CAM too old? Any suggestions GC Edited March 23, 2007 by tasgreg
kenneth1503559512
Have you tried it with the contacts facing up (or down depending on which way you first tried)?

Keepleft
TASGREG, Your Topfield decoder is fine and fully Irdeto licensed. The PVR4000 decoder is a quality piece. As Kenneth said, insert the sub card in, Contacts Up. IF the CAM doesn't work, you need to FREECAM it. Your CAM must be Revision 1.1 (2.06B or not) or it won't show pics on Select TV in its original form. (It should work however with the Filipino ABS-CBN Ku service on IS8). I have a CAM that works fully with Select TV, I'd like to get my hand on a 2.06B like yours', gladly swap it if you like as I'd like to freecam it!!. Freecamming costs about $80 otherwise. If your interested, PM me or send an email, I'll send you the working CAM, with an envelope and you can drop your 2.06B into that, once you've tested the CAM I send. Another option: https://www.hotchip.com.au/OnlineStore/Prod...p?ProductID=133 Anyhow, don't discard your 2.06B.
Guest tasgreg
Thankyou KeepLeft.......... I am still having trouble here. I bought a "guaranteed to work on select tv" CAM, a 904063 2.09 v1.0(6) and I still can't activate the smartcard. (I did that before I saw your offer.) Would you expect this CAM to work? Maybe I have a bad smartcard........... I did also upgrade the Topfield firmware. The Topfield Australia site has very old downloads but I got a late 2006 version from .kr (I can't seem to PM you - maybe you can me?) I am interested in your offer. Thanks
Keepleft
'tasgreg' wrote date='Apr 5 2007, 01:15 AM Thankyou KeepLeft..........I am still having trouble here. I bought a "guaranteed to work on select tv" CAM, a 904063 2.09 v1.0(6) and I still can't activate the smartcard. Right, not really surprised. Version 1.1 in standard form works fine, this one seems to be V1.0, and once the subcard is activated, likely in another CAM, then it would work, again, 'sometimes'! This cam should be updated to "Version 2.06.2 (Softcell V2.26D) " and that may or may not be possible owing a 'flashing' limitation. I will send you a CAM that works and will swap that for your CAM - which I'll then use for ABS-CBN on IS8. Send me your CAM after receiving and trying the CAM I send. (I did that before I saw your offer.)Would you expect this CAM to work? Maybe I have a bad smartcard........... Your smartcard should be fine. Remember, in a CAM, the sub-card is inserted CONTACTS UP. Also, visit this Select TV website and check that the Card Status is "ACTIVATED". You see, it may be the CAM has actually activated the card, but cannot show pics owing its earlier version number. (Or, it may not have). Not Selects fault if so, but that of the CAM! https://www.selectv.com/BigBruceAdmin/customer/login.jsp I did also upgrade the Topfield firmware. The Topfield Australia site has very old downloads but I got a late 2006 version from .kr Just be aware that PVR4000 and 5000 updates, after about year 2004 PREVENT reception of the unencrypted AlJazeera International on C1. (You get a blank screen). This matters if you have a T90 dish, or "3-way" LNB holder which are both used used for viewing multiple satellites, done - to further enhance the viewing experience. http://www.sattronics.net/catalog/index.php?cPath=31 (I can't seem to PM you - maybe you can me?) I am interested in your offer. I'll do that in a few minutes!
