Hey Geoff,

Ive been on these forums for a while but have never really contributed until now. I am looking for a home theatre package exactly like the Richters and these seem perfect. How long have you had them?

Can you, or any other forum members, give me some more details about your 501's. I want to listen to music as well as watch home theater movies so I'm looking for an overall package that can kick some ass. Im only a newbie and want to build up a solid performing HT setup, slowly getting rid of my Sony HTIB (DAVS 300) which I bought over 10 years ago.

I've had a look at the lower range of these speakers at HN and they sounded ok. The sound didnt justify the price though. Are these higher end speakers that much better?

I'm interested in them and I'd like to know a little bit more about this Aust. company. However, it all comes down to the "one who must be obeyed, minister for finance, etc..etc.. you all know who I'm talking about!"

If you like, you can PM me Geoff.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Just tried to send you a personal message about my great experience with Richter speakers but you either have it disabled in your setup or your inbox is full. Don't want to hijack this thread so please send me a personal message and I'll pass on my comments.

Thank you all for your feedback.

Richter speakers sound great and defently good value for money. if you are in Sydney i am happy to demonstrate them to you.

The speakers are good for Movies and music with plenty of bass the speakers are very clear and direct. i have been running them off a Yamaha 2500.

Richter have been around for 20 years and the PM-SW 121 aka the Thor mkIV have had some great reviews and have won a few awards.

Regards

Geoff

Thanks for the input.

Geoff, yes I am in Sydney, not far from Parramatta.

CPinkerton, its a shame but I would like to read your comments one way or another, just give me some time get the posts up.

I headed over to Chatswood HN yesterday and the guys there said that while they didnt have them instore, they could get a set of 501's with sub for around $2300. Is that a good deal from them. I wasnt in a postion to haggle hard yet, so Im sure that price can come down a little further. But while I was there, they had the 401's being demo'd showcasing the Star Wars' last instalment movie and I must say the spaceships flying around didnt sound too bad.

I didnt get to audition the speakers properly but Im guessing the 501's would have a "fuller, bigger" sound?

I asked the sales guy which subwoofer was included in that price/package and he said he didnt know and couldnt tell me. Fancy that! My guess is, its the PM SW101.

I also asked him how much the subs were sold separately and he told me both the 101 and 121 were both $999. That cant be right, can it? Sitting next to each other, the 121 was HUGE compared to the 101.

Oh well, hope to hear your thoughts.

Cheers all,

Steve

Ok Im in Near HORNSBY so not far at all.

I had a quick look on http://www.lenwallisaudio.com/products/details.php?pid=799 and the speakers are $2499

The Len wallis site have a review of the 401 and 501 you can read up on.

The SW-101 retails for $699 and the SW-121 retails for $999

Sounds like a good deal if its included the SW-121.

You can email me here jazzygeoff@optusnet.com.au
