Connecting Speakers?

how do i connect a floor standing speaker that has dual bindings, to a reciever that only has one?

i hope i have asked that correctly

i dont want the bi-amping speakers and just want the normal connection.

do i leave the shorting bars? or remove them?

leave the bridge in and connect the cable to one of the binding posts

It doesn't matter which set of binding posts you connect the amp to, when the bridge is in place.

do i have to use banana plugs? or is there a trick with how you put the wire into it?

Some people may have a preferrence with regards to SQ,but 99.9% of the time it doesn't matter.Then again we could confuse the situation for you and suggest two runs of wire,one to each pair of terminals.

the point is i have a speaker wire connect from + to + and - to - yet im getting no sound at all.

the thing is, it could be a dodgy speaker, or the wire isnt good enough.

but the bi-amp featuer has me stuffed, ive never had speakers that require that before.

and would running two wires from the speaker (effectively 4 connections) to the reciever be okay? will that overload the reciever?

right, i did a test, connected the centre channel to the left front and front speaker works.

i think im making progress, it could be that the wires have sweat on them or soemthing, could that cause a problem?

dont worry about the bi amping part of it, its exactly the same. if its not working, either the speaker might be stuffed, the ohms might not match what the amp can deliver, or the amp is stuffed

both a & b speakers where on

Check first to see if the cable connection can drive all the speakers one by one,Turn of the amp when doing this because if the wires touch

cheers all, feel rather stupid.

the button for both a & B speakers was presed which was why i wasnt getting any sound out of them.

listen to star wars 1 with them, and for a 5.1 system i effectively got for $280 (delievered) im really happy with them.

Well if you just happy now, then when you get a $2800+ set of speakers you will no doubt be ecstatic
