Arry74
I think I will go the Concord brand, so they are the best are they? A few people on these forums also seem to recommend Kordz? Much of a muchness is it? Also, how many HDMI cables will I need as I have a HDMI plasma, HDMI DVD player and HDMI PVR, well I will have ?

Much of a muchness is it? Also, how many HDMI cables will I need as I have a HDMI plasma, HDMI DVD player and HDMI PVR, well I will have ? I used Concord in my last HT and Kordz for this last one, see no difference in PQ really, except my latest PJ is better (Epson TW600). If you have 2 Plasma inputs you'll need 2 (1 for eah devise), if you only have 1 input you'll need a splitter box or splitter HDMI plug or you can run both into an amp with HDMI then one out to your Plasma TV. ozdoc
I think I will go the Concord brand, so they are the best are they? No. But it's just a cable carrying electrons. Honestly, you're unlikely to see any improvement with a more expensive one.A few people on these forums also seem to recommend Kordz? Yes Much of a muchness is it? Yes Also, how many HDMI cables will I need as I have a HDMI plasma, HDMI DVD player and HDMI PVR, well I will have ? Two. I assume it's the PX pana you are getting? - which has 2 HDMI imputs. Which HD PVR did you get? (two threads and a poll later... )
Arry74
Yeah I got the Pana with the 2 inputs, I laybyed it back in June last year as my builder said my house would be ready by August, paid $4500 + $500 warranty at the time, shame as I could have bought one today and saved a $1000 or so, oh well, live and learn Still have not decided on a HD PVR as yet, so many good and bad points for all of them, and who knows when the Toppy will truely be released and what price it will retail for? Eth Nick
I've got a couple of these... http://www.avico.com.au/products/products....39&qs4=4515 They were worth $89 each last October, but I got them for $69 each since I bought a whole HT from JB Hifi at the time. I've used them to connect both my DVD player & HD STB to my Plasma & are very happy with them.

tonyjg
David Jones has the PS3 HDMI (aftermarket ones) for $40 for 3 metres I'm looking for about HDMI cable for about 12mtrs (yes - its a long way from my TV / DVD Player to my Pana projector !! Some questions : - Is HDMI going to make any difference over this distance ? I'm currently running component - and the picture is being projected at 576p from the Panasonic is IMO 'more than adequate' !!! (I'm still amazed by the picture quality) My LG HDD DVD player has the ability to upscale to 1080i - and the Pana projector is able to accommdate. Price wise : I've seen some VARYING PRICES on ebay - and various links from DVDtalk.com to US Cable distributors (pity some of them dont ship international) - any idea what I would be looking at for 12 mtrs ??? best to source this locally - or go offshore ??? any comments / suggestions ??? Last time I looked at hdmi.org the standard referred to a 10 metre maximum distance. Edit: Oops. Should have looked again first - Q. Does HDMI accommodate long cable lengths?Yes. HDMI technology has been designed to use standard copper cable construction at long lengths. In order to allow cable manufacturers to improve their products through the use of new technologies, HDMI specifies the required performance of a cable but does not specify a maximum cable length. Cable manufacturers are expected to sell reasonably priced copper cables at lengths of up to 15 meters. As semiconductor technology improves, even longer stretches can be reached with fiber optic cables, and with active cable technologies such as amplifiers or repeaters. Q. I need to connect two devices with 20 feet of cable, but the cable I bought doesn’t seem to work at that length. One solution is to buy a higher-quality cable. Another is to use an HDMI repeater. Zubiz1503560776
I'm about to place an order in the morning with http://www.htcustomcables.com/ ,so I rang them today and as I had afew questions and found them to be very helpfull. I'm getting all in ten meter length's 1 x HDMI 1 x Sub cable 3 x Speaker cable to run to mains and centre. I thought it was a little expensive when I fist looked a few weeks ago and I can tell you that the prices for cables of these guy's are great. Hope the product is as good as the service if so I'm sure I'll be really happy. ANother question. My Plasma is a few years old now and only accepts DVI and component but I have a Yamaha 2700 and can run HDMI out I was original thinking of running component but when I upgrade my display it will them have/require HDMI so that is why I'm thinking of buying the HDMI cable and using one of these adaptors What do you guys think go for the HDMI cable to futre proof (sort of) or stick with the goos ol component? Compared to prices in the US - these are a tad excessive in my opinion (i'm comparing it to monoprice in the US - 25ft is about $U38 ) At the hutcustomcables price - I wouldn't be taking the chance/risk of getting just a marginal improvement in picture quality (from component to HDMI).
