Connecting Dvd Recorder To A Hd Stb.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have up and till now been ok connecting devices to one another..

but this one has me stumped...

I have a digicrystal hdt-9300 connected up to a Aiko 81cm lcd, i have a samsung

dvd-r121 dvd recorder, i have read the manual, used the video audio out (cvbs mode) on the STB,

connected up to the line 1 in on the dvd recorder, i get sound but no picture. i have the STB

connected to component to the tv, and the dvd recorder is connected via s-video to the tv, is this a problem with a HD STB not communicating with a down scaled dvd recorder, is it possible to connect or not.

thanks

This should work unless your HD STB cannot output composite at the same time as component

The manual for the STB makes no reference to what it can convert or output, it says that

the cvbs output connects to video recording device or audio device, i have tried via hdmi it still

does not work, i tried to down scale the STB to 576p 720p makes no difference, still only sound

but no picture, even tried turning of the STB.

Any input would be great...

I have the same STB, if you want to record, you need to press the yellow button on the remote, then 0000, then press up or down until C - - 1 is displayed on the STB, and press ok.

This will give you picture for recording.

Yes, the STB is incapable of outputting from 2 outputs simultaneously.

Hi digitalj, thanks for your response, i tried what you said and the screen went blank, sound only,

that is the output selector option to the Lcd monitor, i have the monitor connected via, composite y---1

or Hdmi h---1, which i think gives a crappy picture, composite is much better. correct me if i'm wrong c---1

is for analogue connection only.

if the stb is incapable of outputting from 2 outputs simultaneously, then how could it ever be connected

up to two devices, sound strange. one ouput being composite, other being cvbs???

thanks

Jamie

You also need to have the LCD tuned to the input for the DVD Recorder.

I assume you are saying to tune the lcd to s-video, that is the output from the recorder to the lcd,

if so i have already done that...i will contact digicrystal and report back with my finding.

thanks
