Any News On The Next Hd E1/ Xe1 Release Date Yet.

Recommended Posts

Just pre-ordered a Tosh HD-XE1 from Rio Sound in (Thornbury) Melb. The $ was consistent with an earlier post.

The Rio guy told me that Castel informed them last week that Rio should recieve the first batch towards the end of this week - here's hoping that this is true. Anyone else with any news/rumour?

Appears that Castel is still dealing with retailers to the very end. The guy was aware of the change over to Tosh Aust. from 1 April.

...but the question now is will it be Castel distributing the units, or being so close to Toshiba transition, will the units come from Toshiba directly instead.

My guess - units will be released 1st April, and it won't be Castel. Toshiba will want to start off with a bang, and no better a bang than releasing their flagship HD-DVD player as a start.

As per my previous post in this thread, speculation becomes reality

People are talking through their hats if they are telling people stock will be in this week, or next week.

Toshiba will be the only ones distributing the product, and the product will not be available until 1st week of April at absolute earliest

Those bast#%ds at Rio

Seriously though I was just hoping what he said was true. I had gut feel that it was on the optimistic side. I tried a couple of places (Tasman AV and a good I dealt with at HN) but they either weren't interested or didn't have final prices to accept a pre-order.

Two/three weeks I can handle as I've got the Xbox add-on drive coming in next week.

Had exactly the same confirmed today, however I am advised advantage to us being absolutlety up to date with firmware, waited this long so it aint much longer and much happier it will come through Tosh

Just spoke to Rio Sound today and was informed that Toshiba told them that the units will be shipping in about two weeks. Therefore, Rio pre-orders will be ready in two/three or so. Once again I got the ususal caveats.

Anyone else with any further news re the HD-XE1?

Talk about a slow boat from China, or is it Japan ?

I can only hope they have more than one crew member on the oars.

The units are already in Australia. However they are (ref. the distributor) word from Japan regarding the Castel/Toshiba changeover before they are released.

Just got this info from Rio-

I have just been waiting to hear from Toshiba Australia, and I have great news, The X-1 have arrived and we should be seeing them either Thursday/ Friday or Monday of next week. They are currently being tested and costed, so that normally takes 2-3days, once that’s done we will get them !!

So great news for those that have preordered with them. I believe they are still accepting preorders before they arrive so be quick.
