Hi All,

Does anyone have this model. I saw a couple of floor units today. They were marked down to $185 but the salesman offered me $150. I have done some searches on the internet and can see them for $139 new so I certainly won't be paying that.

However, I am considering offering say $90 or $100? Not sure if the floor stock comes with a warranty. Doesn't look like it has been used rather it has just been on display and they no longer have the box.

I am also considering a Hitachi 42PD9500TA Plasma, don't know if that makes any difference on how it would go with it.

Thanks.

I've got 2 of these units, in fairly regular service in bedroom and study, paid over $400 for one about 12 months ago and $65.00 for the second December from Grays online (the $65.00 including buyers premium and delivery for an ex demo).

These units seem to be able to drag in some poor quality signals and display them without issues, I needed to upgrade my aerial to get the best out of a Sony HD900 PVR, but the B820 just quietly went about it's business without complaint.

From my perspective (somewhat limited experience) I would recommend these units. 2 Units in use for probably an average of 2 - 3 hours a day each and no problems.

Lots more info Here

Graeme

I've used one for about 10 months. It's been 99% perfect. The only issue I have ever had is sometimes the voice being out of sync upon startup, which is immediately corrected by changing the channel, or reselecting the current channel. I have had one other issue, which has happened maybe 3 times, where I hit the A-B to flick between current/last channel, it selects the same channel again, but manually entering the channel sovled this. Otherwise, its been very good.

Hi

I think your a bit hard RezoN_8, I've just done a search and it's hard to find any significant problems with the 820. Most posts say it's a good box. Every box has its returns and many have problems that make the 820 look perfect. You could easily do much worse than the 820.

It's not a matter of being hard, I bought one, it failed within 4 months. I knew what the problem was when I sent it back, same problem others had experienced with the previous unit (800) ie: the C100 error. Faulty capacitors, from what I understand, in the power supply. The shop I bought it from said "Yeah we've had a couple fail" sent it back and had it repaired, easy.

Sure, you can do worse, I never said that it was a crap unit, just stating mine failed in 4 months and had to be repaired. I paid $250 for mine, for some funny reason I kind of thought it might last a bit longer.

OK Rezon_8

It's that I can't find anyone reporting a power problem with 820 that's my main point. I'm sorry you had a bad one. But I'd buy another 820 in a heartbeat.

I had a power supply related issue with my dvb820 within weeks of getting it. Luckily the store I bought it from gave me a replacement. In fact i think this is a common problem with both the dvb800 and dvb820 symbolised by the c1.00 error message

Since the replacement though I've had over a year of high def bliss (except for a bit of black crush when using DVI out to HDMI on my Hitachi)
