biot
got one...works fine! my only problems with it is: a ) the display is a bit bright on the front panel bright amber on black is a bit distracting...preferred the old one (HDT-9200) with its green/blue on black. b ) it doesnt come in black like the HDT-9200

biot
You got it for a very good price at the end of the day thats what you have to weigh up in it all. i paid about 150 for mine and a HD box at that price do you say the LG is twice as good because its twice the price ? you will probably find there is not much difference in picture quality it will basically come down to features and the LGs and Philips of this world will always have more of those. Bang for buck, its up there

vicpug
If all the specs are true and correct - this is close to a killer HD-STB. But damn, that means that Digicrystal will probably not invest any R&D to fix bugs with older STB's - they will just push you to buy the new ones - c'est la vie ! vicpug
HDT-9300 still has one minor problem with DD 5.1 - which appears to be solved in HDT-9500.

saturn007
I must admit it is a little annoying and disappointing that this product has appeared on ebay but is no where to be seen on the Digicrystal website. that's why i said i was a bit skeptical, and i got mine yesterday and the release date on it says nov 9, 2006 so i have no idea what digicrystal are doing not posting any info on it anywhere on their web site. In fact the only place google finds is ebay. I seti t up last night and i am using the HDMI output and the box looks cool. I like the pq, but can't compare it to other stb's since this is my very 1st one. but i noticed something though. I was watching a program on SBS last night, "The UEFA championship hour" and i was getting full screen when the hosts are discussing the games, but when they put highlights of the match, the picture is no more full screen. i get black stripes on the sides. Is this a normal behavior? other than that, i like the new channels like TV guide and the parliment house channels ;-) and the radio channels. Is this a normal behavior? yes it will happen a bit on SBS because the footage is dependant on the source broadcaster and a lot of countries around the world on shoot in 4:3. the other goof SBS make is that every now and then the force 16:9 on 4:3 footage so all of a sudden a report will appear on your screen looking like he has looked at the mirror at the entrance of your local pancake palour hehehe. Guest Gutterboy!
Hi Guys, I was hunting around the internet & found this forum. I want to hook a Digicrystal HDT-9500 Set Top Box to a Samsung SyncMaster 225BW LCD Monitor. There's a DVI port in the monitor so I'm running a HDMI - DVI cable & then using RCA leads to a small amp. The monitor is set to DVI manually but I can't get it to work. I checked the STB last night by scanning it in on the lounge room TV, & it all worked fine. After that I plugged it back in to the monitor but still can't even get the menu up. My guess is that there could be a problem with the HDMI - DVI cable. But then why is there no audio either! Is there something I'm missing here? Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers
jokiin
HDMI to DVI does not always work unfortunately, there are multiple standards of both HDMI and DVI, some will work together, some won't

yabbal
Most computer monitors do not support 50Hz, only 60Hz and above. A quick check of the Samsung website would seem to confirm this, the stated Vertical Frequency is 56~75Hz.
yabbal
Back on the topic of the hdt-9500, I had a look at the ebay site - its a nice looking unit. Does it have a button on the remote to switch output resolutions? And does it output On Screen Display through the s-video out? I want to buy a hdbox now for my SD tv to receive 5.1 broadcasts on the HD channels, but I plan on getting a HD display in the near future. I want to be able to switch between output resolutions fast so I can select 720p mode for ABC & SBS HD and 1080i mode for everything else.

hi_reach
good news - yes there is i have a hdt-9300 you can switch res from remote button only prob with mine it the box dislpay disapears all the time turn of on no probs i use the hdmi all the time not a prob there either just tring to find a newer firmware to see if there is any new options
digitalj
Hi_Reach, The following link is for firmware updates, but currently none for the HDT-9300 http://www.digicrystal.com.au/Support3_3.asp I personally wouldn't mind an update to enable the stb to output the audio it's receiving without the need to do it manually, and search for DD 24/7 on the same channel, and use it if it's there. I get very annoyed during the middle of the day when I try to watch 7, as they have a HD loop on then, so I have to go to SD, and they've only got MPEG on SD
saturn007
my 1st issue with this unit was recorded a few days ago. when i got the unit, switching channels was smooth, now it's taking about 7 seconds. anyone else experiencing this before and has a resolution to it before i contact them? I will try to reset it and see how it goes.
quijibo
Have you checked the aerial connection? I have excellent reception and the channel changes take about 1 second, but when the cable is unplugged it takes about 5 seconds to switch channels and then suffers from a bit of stutter.
