Found this topic while searching for subwoofer reviews at an english forum site.

http://www.avtalk.co.uk/forum/index.php?t=...;rid=0&SQ=0

has tested various brands and models including velodyne, svs, paradigm and focal_jmlab.some forum members here have the model sub that they have tested and may be interested.

There is also a topic on how to interpret the results which I'm still trying to get my head around  :D

ah yeah its actualy listed as a link in the htfaq sticky if you havent noticed. plenty of good info. jsut keep in mind the tests are done on ground plane out doors. to get an idea on how the sub might suit yoru room and your setup/system theres no substitute to in-room testing in my opinion.

Has anyone ever built and reviewed any of the sub designs fromhere ? http://www.decware.com/newsite/mainmenu.htm

ive built the 12" version of the deathbox with 2 12 inch subs inside, and also tried it with 1 sub. very nice, was in my car running from a 450WRMS amp, just way too heavy. Also have the plans for the WO32 and one day will get around to trying to build it..

some great designs there anyway..

Sub tests performed indoors are so room dependent as to be a virtually meaningless, especially as different testers will employ different rooms. Altering one dimension of a room by a few centimetres or altering the sub's location by the same amount can dramatically affect it's sound.

Given the choice of comparing subwoofers by scientific testing performed outdoors in a large flat area or in an enclosed room, then outdoors wins hands down. At least the comparison is valid outdoors.
