Foxtel Channel Seven "glitching"

Recommended Posts

We only watch the FTA channels via Foxtel, as we live in a gully in Sydney and the reception is woeful, even with new antenna + amplifier. It works fine (except for the crap picture quality), but last night on Prison Break, the picture was skipping and glitching all over the place right through the entire episode. We havent seen it before and it wasnt there this morning. It was incredibly annoying.

Did anyone else experience this ?

Glad I watched Heroes in Hi Def then ... although I recorded 24 last night, so hopefully it isn't glitchy.

I've also noticed that lately both 7 and 10 have been ghosting. Has anyone else noticed this? I would have thought that would have a decent aerial for their analogue retransmission.

BTW, I'm in Brissy.

I'm pretty sure it was Heroes that was glitchy as well  let me know if not .

I recorded Heroes on IQ and it was virtually impossible to watch. Picture freezes whilst audio continued, heavy pixelation etc. Prison Break was so bad I simply gave up. I thought is was my IQ unit, did any one else have problems with these 2 shows recording on IQ?

 cheers :D

I recorded Heroes on my IQ and just watched the entire show and there was only 3 frame jumps, no skips or pixelation problems. The frame jumps were so quick that if you blinked you would miss it. Thus was possible to watch for me.:D:P

Do not watch Prison Break so cannot comment on that show.

Ditto on the Heroes problem - video freezes whilst sound continues, restart only fixes it for a few seconds.

Also a new glitch for us, reaching a point in a recorded program that literally crashes the IQ - power goes off and it then reboots itself. Repeatable error just by reaching same point in program, which suggest a bad sector on the disk to me. Anyone else with this one?

Hi Greg, that's exactly the same problems we were having and I came to the same conclusions (bad hard drive sectors). Since more than one person is commenting on those exact same symptoms, my guess would be a transmission problem, not a hardware problem. It is pretty unlikely that all of use would have the same hard drive problem whne recording the same shows. Maybe the more technical guys can comment further.

 cheers :D

Don't mean to burst your bubble but 576p is not high def. I did a post about this about 7 HD not being Hi def. Channel 9 and 10 are though.

Fear not, I wasn't in that bubble  Maybe we should rename 7 HD to 7 PHD ... pseudo hi def ... although giving them a PHD might be a little miss leading as well :D

576p is only ED or "Enhanced Definition" So I call 7"HD" 7 ED. I refuse to recognise 576p as High Definition.
