SenojNW
I'm considering moving my 42" Panasonic up onto the wall so I can fit my centre channel on the entertainment unit below it (should hide the cables well too). I have seen some really nice and what seem to be well made brackets (tilt and non-tilt) on some online stores (Australian) that are in the range of $30 - $60 each. As soon as you go near the "name brands" they jump to $300+ !! Seems like a rip off - a strong steel bracket is a strong steel bracket... Just interested to see whether other people are using the "no name" brands?
Mining Man
There's probably a dozen or more threads on this already. There was one I remember posting in within the last few weeks. I'll just duck out for a look, and be back with a link... EDIT: Here 'tis.

Feels sturdy enough to hold twice the weight.
SenojNW
Cheers Lads! Yeah was planning to get one from Selby's - they look good. Oh - also heard mention round the traps that you can void your warranty by using a non-Panasonic wall mount? Sounds far fetched but has anyone heard and confirmed this? Inego1503560167
There was a post that indicated this a few weeks ago (can't be bothered searching). However, I couldn't find anything in the manual apart from the 75mm clearance from the wall necessary for cooling if you are wall mounting. Most of the tilting brackets manage this, but some of the fixed ones don't. My comment at the time was that, if the clearance was OK and any problem related to the working of the unit and not whether the bracket fell of the wall (or the unit off the bracket), I'd be arguing very strongly with Panasonic if they tried to knock back a claim. MartinX
TAKE NOTE Does your panasonic have standard VESA mounting holes or will you require a Universal Bracket? I was all set to buy a ceiling mount for ~$120 when I discovered the Panasonic LCD had non-standard mounting holes Panasonic was willing to sell me a wall mount, but, in my case, that wouldn't have suited. I ended up building a shelf and if you knew what my carpentry skills were like, you'd know why I desperately wanted the bracket. WIFE (in bedroom with a single downlight on, 3-4 m away from shelf): The shelf looks OK in this light from over here. ME: Errr, thanks. I think... I reckon I would look passable in that light at that distance I've been told that some Panasonics have a small amount of curvature in the back panels that may make fitting a bracket difficult. Panasonic specifically told me that damage caused by ill-fitting brackets will void the warranty. My advice: Check the bracket carefully before buying. Mining Man
~I've been told that some Panasonics have a small amount of curvature in the back panels that may make fitting a bracket difficult. Panasonic specifically told me that damage caused by ill-fitting brackets will void the warranty. My advice: Check the bracket carefully before buying. The wall mount I got came with 4 plastic spacers, so that you could still attach them to the back of a curved plasma. Must admit I don't like the idea of a plasma being hung in such a fashion. Fortunately mine has a flat back, so that the load of the plasma is spread over the entire face surface of the 2 mounting arms (yielding lower shear forces). SenojNW
How do you know if it has standard VESA holes? I was looking at a universal bracket anyway... The Pana 42PX600A it thin at the top and curves out to a wider base when you look at it in side profile (i.e. it has a fat ass!). So no - not completely flat on the back although I think the area with the mounting holes is all flat. Has anyone had any issues wall mounting this model? I thought this could help, but Claudiecat's is the 50" model...

SenojNW
Reply on the warranty issue from Panasonic (I asked) is that use of non-Panasonic brackets resulting in damage to the panel will void the warranty. The damage would have to be attributed to the bracket of course.

Coming back to you original post, the mounts sold on ebay will definitely do the job. I've installed one for my brother on a plaster wall holding a 40" LCD, and another on a brick wall (above a decommissioned fireplace) holding a 50" plasma. With a bit of preparation, right tools and care when installing, you'll have no problems getting your screen on the wall. Good luck.
