TF7000HDPVRT( is performing faultlessly. I believe some functionality is just firmware away.

The only minor (and I mean minor) gripe is , the front panel display scrolls continuously. eg TEN HD is neatly displayed but then scrolls to ensure one can see all the blank spaces at the end?.

TEN HD

EN HD

N HD

HD

HD

D

get the idea? There is this continuous movescrolling of the front panel display. Perhaps a firmware fix to only scroll when there are non-blank characters hidden from view?

Overall, very happy with functionality and ease of use. 10/10

Batts, did you have a PVR prior to this one?

Has it been fairly user friendly to navigate and operate? Any reference back to the manual yet on how to work it?:P

Hope Topfield get some of the functionality fixed through firmware pretty quick. The expectation of many who have waited a long long time will be very high.

Enjoy!

Are you guys sure?

I have the Toppy HD tuner and it stays motionless if its displaying the full name ie PRIME but if the station ID is larger than the display allows then it scrolls.

On the tuner only model you just simply edit the station ID to a shorter name and it stops scrolling.

Is it possible its set at the factory with TEN HD <blank> <blank> <blank> <blank> etc causing it to scroll when all you have to do is change it to TEN HD? (I know that sounds silly but you know what I mean)

Try it batts..it will be under "editing program information" or something like that.

Maybe the PVRs dont have that feature

I love the MP display tap ... stops the scrolling (even when playing back a file with a long name like mine normally has...) .... otherwise is very distracting ..... its a pitty some of the most used taps like PBK weren't incorporated into the product (with due royalties given to the developer off course)....

So far as I've been able to work out, you cannot rename the stations on the TF7000PVRt, unlike some earlier models.

Enjoy!

Never had a PVR other than the dodgytec 160G single tuner which I took back after few a few days .

I am up with the theory and technology in general terms, but have never used a toppy. I made my choice to purchase based only on my readings here.

I browsed the online manual yesterday before I purchased. I haven't opened the paper manual. Easily setup, other functionality learnt by playing...very intuitive overall. (edit: I just opened the book, it is obvious one will need to refer to it to realise the full remote functionality)

Have recorded two channels, changed recording length, watched a recording concurrently with the dual recording, setup favorites, time-shifted, etc without problem.

Simply love the search and review functionality. The number keys taking you to 10% increments through the recording is great, and the yellow and blue keys skipping 30secs at a time is perfect for ad skipping.

All OSDs are simply removed (hidden) using exit key.

Unlike my Panny LCDTV, channels are visible and audible in a window whilst browsing the guide.

So far each recording is labelled with the program name and date, if not then the channel name and date. haven't played with folders or USB transfer yet.

Simplicity dominates the operation, eg whilst watching a channel, REC key to record or PAUSE key to time-shift, couldn't be easier.

Context sensitive help/menus eg if you try to change to a third channel whilst recording two others, menu option pops up to halt recording on either recording channel.

One little inconvenience (minor) is that when time-shifting, if you then surf to another channel and back, the time-shift channel positions forward to real time and you have to search back to where you were prior to surfing.

For the firmware gurus,

Device version v0.9.25

Application version v0.94.19

Hold on there - That's new. So if you have nothing recording and your'e watching the time shift buffer you can switch to another channel and then come back and rewind in the original point in the TS buffer? I presume if you keep watching you'll get to the point where you switched channels and you can see the TS Buffer switch channels?

Also hit the OK button while just watching TV. Any option provided to rename channels?

Not sure Peter, I suspect I was timeshifted on a channel which I was also recording, I'll check all these things out tonight.

UPDATE..confirmed that I am mistaken, I was time-shifted on a recording channel when the above happened.

Page 26 of the manual (page 27 online) indicates services can be renamed. It is in a submenu accessed by a particular remote key.
You are quite write. I was looking in the wrong place. You do the change on the pop-up channel list, accessed by pressing the 'OK' key on the remote.

Thanks for that.

Thanks to Batts correcting me, I can confirm that you can rename channels from that list (press the red key and choose 'Rename').

NO!

I renamed to TEN with no following spaces, and to leading spaces followed by TEN. Whatever the name, the scrolling occurs.

One for the firmware gurus I think.

Tried this myself today and same results.

Also found WIN TV in Hobart on the SD channel was not stretching the picture vertically, yet the PiP was OK.

Only this one SD channel, all the rest are OK.

That one sounds like a problem I had with a Teac HD STB. It needed a firmware upgrade to fix Win's funny problem with their SD picture.

Firmware wishlist.

1. Output resolution can be adjusted to a specific resolution or left on AUTO for no up/down-scaling. When accessing the A/V Output Setting menu, the remote scrolls through all these choices.

However, when using the [V.Format] key direct during viewing, only the different resolutions are in the scroll sequence. One has to return to the menu to select AUTO.

2. Resume record after power failure.

3. Option to stop front panel display scrolling, or disable scrolling for short channel names.

4. Front panel display brightness option.

5. Option to re-order the channels in a favorites list.

Any more folks?

yep - the FAT/FAT32 USB file transfer "issue" - what is the max filesize that can be transferred?

6. second set of IR commands / if you want to use 2 HD Toppy PVRs in the same room... ie: choose between IR1 or IR 2

7. auto bookmark on stopping

8. trim functions on stopping (Like PBK)
