Blu-ray Have Announced More Releases For February Than Hd Dvd Has For All Of 2007

I think whatever we may consider personally - this market isnt about what we want personally. Its a suppliers market. And I think there is a big threat with AACS being defeated with now only bluray having the option for BD+. I think the studios will see brd as the secure platform and that could be enough to shift remaining hd-dvd studios into the brd team.

AACS has hardly been defeated - a software player was compromised. However, when the player's keys are revoked, the 'hole' will have been plugged.

AACS has many defence lines against being compromised - it will be a battle of tit-for-tat shots.

I doubt that studios that back HD-DVD will be running scared into the arms of BD and BD+, just because one software player has been compromised this early in the 'war' against AACS.

please stop trying to take yet another thread even further of topic.

Andrew, I wouldnt worry, all these threads that are popping up are a waste of time anyways. Its the old "my dog is blacker than your dog" scenario - two zealot-camps wanting to get the last word in. Ive been more quiet of late on here, largely thanks to the tit-for-tat threads being started that are just pulled from other sites and are old secondhand news anyways. How many times do we want to read what analyist's think? I get enough of that when I watch the weather forecast. But I have been quiet of late...reason being Im actually enjoying watching my HD movies now, not in late March.

c912039 I think for all practical purposes with the key pilfering that is going, it is broken. It's simply not possible in a practical way for the mastering factories to change keys for individual lots. And even if it were, the fact the key has to be in memory is enough for an open architecture like the x86 architecture to allow for this exploit.

To say its not broken because the encryption hasnt been cracked really is an academic point - the point is an exploit has been developed that circumvents it and makes the encryption a mute point.

Unless AACS is ditched for something else, the content is not secure anymore. Theres no way AACS will not supply decryption keys for players on the PC platform.

Just to set all your minds at ease...or maybe it won't BUT BluRay hasn't really even been launched properly in this country yet. [so far its just a 'soft launch'] So hold on to comments until after the March/April launch - ie when the PS3 launches. Both Fox, BV, WB and Sony will support the release of the PS3 with at least 15 titles...and yes

Casino Royale WILL be released here day and date with DVD...[read early April]

Calm down chickens it's all happening...admittedly they're a bit slow but better late than never.

Oh and CRANK is DAMN nice looking on BD [because it was shot on the1080p/24 digital camera] BUT its not the best...that has to go to OPEN SEASON...friggin amazing...best of any format [yes i know its not a real movie its a cartoon but its a good looking one]...

Could you please point us to a link confirming an AU Blu-ray release of casino royale?

Ta

I see Casino Royale is being used to try and push sales of the PS3 in the EU with the first 500,000 people registering to the online Playstation Network to get a free copy. I guess that will distort the disc sales figures nicely.

On another note, I see that Fox has for whatever reason had to pull back their BD release schedule for March/April with the swag of affected titles now set for a TBA release date.

Is there any real issue with the PS3 only outputting at 1080/60, instead of 24 fps? Is it going to make a big difference from a performance point of view. I did read over at AVS that a firmware upgrade in the future could rectify that. Not sure i believe it though...

The issue with 1080/60 is panning judder. Depending on the display this varies from hardly noticeable to very noticeable.

The new 120Hz displays on the way to market will fix this issue (since 120 = 5 x 24).

Idiots, give away a title that sells itself. Well if they are not interested in selling disc, just giving em away, I'll have one please.

I also guess that with the indefinite postponement of so many discs, the incorrect title of this thread just go a whole lot more BS'ish. Some people really should think things through before embarrassing themselves with sensationalist titles like the OP'er did here.

Whats with all the negative Sony banter? Do you really think they'd just give away Casino Royale? Obviously Playstation will be coffing up some dough to secure this deal.

BTW - it looks like we'll have a similar PS3/CR deal here.

As momaw is format neutral, I think people should appreciate his posting more. It does seem stupid tho', a lot of people would be happy to buy this movie at a premium.
