Another Prediction Of Bu- Ray Victory

Recommended Posts

That isnt a conclusive argument for the reason why.

MS is using the same strategy with the 360, and with the hd-dvd add on it enabled a hack to be used on a PC. The PS3 doesnt have this option. In fact, the demand has been unprecendented and MS has had to extend manufacturing agreements to supply demand.

Therefore this is no logical reason why BluRay sales have surpassed HD-DVD.

I agree.

I think that many PS3 owners, after forking out a small fortune for their new toy, are looking to get their moneys worth out of it. With Zero games worth buying (assuming everyone got R:FOM with their console  ) they are looking at the blu-ray movie side of things and grabbing a few discs.

I mean how many HD DVD owners can put their hand up to say they have bought titles they would not have bought had there been a better range to chose from? I think most would - myself included. When we early adopters have an expensive new toy, we tend to buy, buy, buy even if we don't want it and with no games, that only leaves movies.

Whether this is a strategy to get PS3 owners buying movies or not could be debated. But I think this trend will continue until we see a decent range of games available for the PS3.

As I have said before, the PS3 means we have to throw all conventional reasoning and statistical analysis out the window as sales numbers are no longer indicative of use and at this stage there are just too many unknown variables at play.

Unfortunately all we and the "experts" can do at present is wait it out, and fill these spaces with our own speculation. But anybody who says they have "proof" of a winner one way or the other at this point, either has a vested interest, is a fanboi or is just plain deluding themselves (possibly all three)

One of the most respected technology-research companies and ICT analysts, Forrester, have predicted that Blu-ray will win over its rival HD DVD format, but claimed it won't be a quick victory.

Should you we start taking bets? :D:blink:

I'm with the other pundits going with the "co-existence" scenario

shame MarkHolden is so predictable..... :P

Its a "prediction" - nothing more, nothing less. But I do remember the predictions made about Betamax, MiniDisc et al.

I lived through the whole Beta/VHS thingy.. and there were not many bets for Beta

As for Mini Disc .. it was "more popular" than Philips Digital Compact Cassette.. although both formats were not that "popular" especially in this country.

um, did you not read the following:

(assuming everyone got R:FOM with their console  )

which was in brackets qualifying my statement? R:FOM = Resistance: Fall of Man.

Is that all you have to discredit what I said?

Geez this is ridiculous

Is it possible to say anything without upsetting the fanboi's???????

I wasn't trying to discredit your post....

geeez loosen up man

I agree this is getting ridiculous and petty

I was just saying that others feel the same way regarding that title

I hope the release date is spot on

your post doesn't read that way at all. It selectively quoted me and then proceeded to say that I was wrong, trying to provide linked evidence.

But, whetever, I'm not interested in an argument unless it has some merit in response to my post.

I placed links so people can ascertain release dates, price ..and info about the game itself (ie for those not familiar with it)

ps..I have placed the three dots after so it won't be misinterpreted in future

chill man,, its only a game console not world war three.. I'm sure the conglomos would want you to feel that way about it though..
