extremeaudiowa
So if Foxtel decide to go HD n the near future what will the box they use be. Does any one know... Will it be the same box at the SkyHD one currently used. And if so does anyone know who makes this box and what it is like. Or is there other choices. I know we Shared the Pace 420 for a while and now the IQ which they still use in Sky Also when is the new satellite being launched so we have this extra bandwith
MattWinter
Satellite is meant to be launched Q4 this year, as for the HD box choice, I hope they only release it combined with a PVR - that way they will be starting to phase out the non-pvr boxes. cyril
Foxtel and its sibling do a lot of technology sharing and procurement pooling. Therefore we can note that SkyUK use theThompson DSI8215 which is a HDPVR, and SkyItalia the Pace DS815NS which has no PVR feature. So there are a couple of contenders. If Foxtel take the sensible route and only release a HDPVR and stay with Pace then the TDS/TDC850 is their PVR HD product on both DVB-S2 and DVB-C. big_marcelo
my money is that they will launch the HD service as a PVR only with the UK PVR model .... it makes sense.....
CCF
This is a good question My first initial thought is that there would be a software update. With Foxtel flogging IQ, I can't see them wanting to piss off more of Australia by making them pay for another install and box replacement for HD. As someone else has already stated, Sky have a HD box so I guess that's what they'll do... considering Foxtel is lazy (has anyone noticed on the back of their IQ remote where the batteries lay, they still have the Sky + sticker )

The Pace IQ box is a standard def PVR only. For Pace's HD PVRs: http://www.pacemicro.com/corporate/product...ype=HDPVR#HDPVR
GaryCook
When I was talking to the Foxtel rep yesterday (refer to the Foxtel PQ Quality thread), he said that a new STB was required for HD and that they would be charging for it. cheers
