pgdownload
Yes you need a PVR (digital) or DVDR (analogue) - PVRs in general can't record PAY TV (Only FTA digital) - The TVs inbuilt tuner probably can't be 'on sent' for recording to a DVDR (most can't) - $500-$700 get's you pretty much a choice of the top of the line twin tuner SD PVRs - SD PVRs don't have HDMI connections. - There are DVDR/PVR hybrids if you really want to be able to record Foxtel ($750+) Have a read of the 'FAQ' and also the other pinned FAQs night be informative Regards Peter Gillespie PS Composite is about the worst cable you can use (about 60% of the PQ of Component/HDMI) - avoid if at all possible (surely you have a few other input types like SVideo?) madmax
- The TVs inbuilt tuner probably can't be 'on sent' for recording to a DVDR (most can't) And even if it can, you would still need an STB at least so you can watch another channel while you are recording. In which case you might as well make it a PVR or digital tuner DVD-R to simplify your setup.

You also haven't actually posted much in the way of 'requests'. What is it you want to do? Reading the FAQs provided should give you some idea of the range of capabilities on offer.Regards Peter Gillespie
Mining Man
thanks will the Topfield TF7000HDPVR be able to carry out my requests....as i am wanting to buy very soon....like tomorrow! You're kidding aren't you? You've been a member since June last year, and have made 80 odd posts. And you're seriously asking if you'll be able to buy the Toppy Mirage tomorrow???? And did you even bother to read Pete's excellent PVR guide? He already answered your questions above, and also provided the link for you (obviously too hard to find let alone read the FAQs). pjc
Yes you need a PVR (digital) or DVDR (analogue) Peter, Aren't there a couple of digital DVDRs around. I was under the impression they could record digital to the HDD or is it only their analogue tuner which can record to HDD? The reason I ask is that I have recommended this as an option to a couple of colleagues. Philip

pgdownload
Peter, Aren't there a couple of digital DVDRs around. That was my last point under a different name:There are DVDR/PVR hybrids if you really want to be able to record Foxtel Definitely worth considering these if you have recording PAYTV as a requirement.
