It would be nice to think people took reference to this forum and took it on board. About a snow balls chance in hell of that happening I would say.:D

You'd be surprised. I know for a fact a lot of the networks' technical people are regular visitors here, and do take notice of what's being said.

At least Seven realise they broadcast SD at a higher bitate than over in Europe. I.e 6MBps as opposed to 4.5MBps

So there's 1.5MBps towards HD

They could remove the VPG another 1.7MBps, so 3.2MBps

Then they could fully enable their TS, another 4MBps, so there's 7.2MBps they could add to HD, so they are really able to do good 1080i.

With the reasonable encoders, Seven could comfortably duplicate what Nine Perth does - 5.5Mbit/s for SD video, and 15.25Mbit/s (now it is 15Mbit/s, but previously was 15.25Mbit/s) for HD video. Including a full EIT EPG, DD audio at 448kbit/s on HD and DD/MPEG audio on SD at 256kbit/s each.

am i sad.. very sad..

am getting a eyetv hybrid, hoping to watch 1080i either @ harrington or Bonny Hills - but prime have left me high and dry.. seriously, that is pathetic, 576p is not HD, they need their heads read!

anyway, can i ask another question? what networks do pure 1080i HD at some times? either upscaling it, or in its highest quality form? either at jolly nose repeater or Middle Brother Tower..

NBN and SC10 do 1080i from Middle Brother at the moment. NBN upscale their 1080i when there is no native HD on and SC10 show a HD loop when there is no native HD content on. ABC is 720p and show the occasional native HD program. Only ABC is availabe at Jolly Nose repeater at the moment.

Actually its not worth watching SEVEN anymore at all - even for Heroes. Why?

The voices are so chip-munk its crazy! The indan guy (sharesh) sounds aweful, honestly download an episode and see the difference in pitch.

I watched the latest episode this morning, original TS from NBC in American. 1920x1080p - 5.1 sound and perfect image quality. Ah the magic of the internet.

Currently 720x576p - MPEG1 2.0 sound and good SD quality with voices at a crazy PAL speedup pitch sounds dodgy to me.

It should not be illegal to download these shows (in HD) if the local station is unwilling to broadcast the show in HD. They should be able to convert to PAL and pich correct the sound. I don't mind that PAL conversions play slightly faster but if you have watched 13 episodes of a show in NTSC then watch this it is annoying.

ive noticed the 'speed up' as well, in 24 - i ran an internet release against sevens, it was O.O.S. like that! *snaps fingers*

frame rate conversion is it??

Even nicer when outputted to my new HD panel with 3:2 pulldown which means 1080p

Reminds me of 2Day FM in Sydney, they speed up the songs to fit in more ads or whatever and don't pitch correct it. It's for that reason I can't stand listening to 2Day FM, the songs just don't sound right.

Wow radio's speeding up songs... my god!

Nice TV Winston - the S series, when used correctly, are absolute gold! Seriously the difference between a nicely setup S series and X series is very minimal. Only thing is your stuck in 768p land - but at a viewing distance of just 2m I'd doubt you could tell the difference anyway.

The FM station '92.9' in Perth does the same (it's also Austereo/Today Network, poised at same demographic as 2Day). Annoying indeed!
