Hi Ben,

I'm very much interested in obtaining the buy price you have secured via your group buy efforts. Forgive my ignorance but I can't manage to send a PM so I thought I'd just post in this thread.

If you could let me know of the current purchase price and where the projectors will be shipping from via an email that would be most appreciated.

For any other interested parties in the Sydney area I've obtained a fairly good purchase price from Projectisle, they or should I say she, the lady I have been dealing with has been most professional and I feel has done her very best to give me a good price based on the sale of a single unit only. That being said Ben's price should come in a little cheaper courtesy of the group buy and I may end up going that way myself depending on the final price. Anyone feel free to email me for more particulars with regards Projectisle and perhaps somebody could explain how a PC dullard such as myself sends a PM.

Ben I'm not attempting to steal your thunder as I have no plans to do the excellent work you have done and put together a group buy myself, just wanting to give anyone a heads up that is in the Sydney region and may wish to purchase locally.

Your efforts are most welcome as we all benefit from some healthy competition amongst the retailers/dealers.

Cheers,

Justin.

Good work Ben,

Please don't take this in anyway as a detraction of your efforts, but I should remind those people in ADELAIDE that I am trying to arrange a powerbuy here too. I am awaiting final delivery dates and associated purchase offer.

Those on my list were PMd a few days ago.

I concur!

Ben

If one doesn't mind buying interstate/mailorder then of course, but if one prefers a local supplier, then several "powerbuys" are required. In the end, the pricing is set by JVC, it is still unclear if they will "sponsor" an "earlybird" price similar to that seen on AVS, or better. Time will tell.

The guys on avs were able to get a great discount due to the large quantity of the order, and I can assure you not all were in the same state, distribution was hndled by avs.

From what I can see there is quite a bit of interest from various states and Individuls from each state trying to put together a group buy. Here's my thoughtsp.

1-Each state has a rep benthx(W.a)Madelaide (s.a)etc.etc who gather orders.

2-Each rep totals the order with the other reps e.g 5 for W.a ,7 for s.a, 10 for Vic,accumultive 22

3-Each rep tries bargining with 22 orders in his own state.

4-Whichever rep has the best price, thats where the purchase will be made from

5-Winning rep MUsT be componsated for his/her time if they are to handle distribution

Large quantities are considered wholesale, therefore less margin hence more for us to spend on other crap

Hi Guys,

I feel the singular group buy concept posted by eandoz is indeed quite soild. No doubt multiple group buys in respective states will yield a better price for the individuals concerned. However to place an order of 25 or so units with the one dealer would most certainly allow for a better buy price from JVC for that dealer which in turn should mean more money in our pockets, dependant on the profit margins the said dealer is working on of course.

I've already secured a good purchase price from Projectilse for a single unit but I welcome the idea of saving further cash with a group buy which in a way is similiar to the AVS pre-order. I do believe those lucky lads received a very significant discount, somewhere in the order of 25% off the US RRP. I don't believe that will be acheivable here as that was IMHO in no small part due to the strong relationship AVS has with JVC Pro courtesy of Tom Stites, but it can't hurt to try for the best possible deal here in Oz  .

Anyone wanting to discuss purchase price off the forum email me at justin_d@exemail.com.au

Thanks,

Jus.

Hi Ben,

I, like eandoz are awaiting an update on your power buy. Could I ask any other members who have obtained a firm purchase price on the HD1 to email me the figure at justin_d@exemail.com.au

As I've already mentioned I have a buy price from Projectisle which may be better than I give it credit for. I'm thinking I may just call my contact there again tomoz and discuss the probability of a better discount if I could guarantee an order of say 20/25 units. Obviously this would only be a hypothetical purchase at this stage but even Ben who initiated the power buy seems to think a singular group buy would yield the best buy price for all & I strongly concur. Obviously such a price doesn't take into consideration those members who value a local purchase more so than a rock bottom price.

On a side note I was told that an order through Projectisle is dispatched directly from JVC to the purchaser, no middle man. Has anyone confirmed any kind of a return policy with their dealer/supplier? I'm praying that the QC on these units ensures the same very, very good image as reported by the CES attendes and those who saw the Pearl/HD1 shootout at PJ hifi in the UK, however if panel shading & convergence falls short of the excellent standard demonstrated thus far I'm wondering what recourse we will have if any? Just thinking out aloud.

Thanks,

Jus.

Hello Guys

A little update.

Final price for the JVC unit can only really be determined when the actual units come into Australia. JVC doesnt have any stock yet but they are coming VERY soon  Some members have contacted me about price from resellers and prices tossed about. The gereral price reduction at the moment is 10% off RRP for a singular unit. Multiple units could attracts at least 12.5% off. I however am expecting a further reduction when other market forces come into play. Even at 8995.00 this PJ for what it can deliver is a bargin by standards.

Some individuals have expressed concern about reduced margins and where it leaves the dealers. WE are the early adopters and consider ourselves quite knowlegable in this dept. and dont require any if little education on the product. In many cases we know more about the product than the people selling it! So in this train of thought it is a very easy sale for the retailer and they become in this instance nothing more than a receiver of the money. Many of us will then become members of CLUB JVC and will liase with each other privately or on the forum for hints and tips re the HD1.

Some individuals who are also trying to organise a group buy have a slightly skewed interest apart from the collective benefit of a low purchase price. I dont have a problem with this as to the victor goes the spoils. Whoever gets the kudos for organising this I am not really fussed. All I want is a PJ for the best price possible and for the others to share this same price.

So I would this to perhaps become the offical JVC powerbuy thread and all other powerbuy threads by individuals to join as one. I already have an idea what we may be entitiled to as a bulk purchase of say 20 units. Some members have expressed concern with not being able to do business with their local dealer; e.g warranty returns and being able to go to a human face. For those that feel more comfortable then I suggest then make their purchase on a individual basis, dealer to person. Warranty issues at the end of the day are dealt with the service center and there is one in each state. I dont know of any dealer than is allowed to service anything quite complex like this PJ for example. So taking it back to the dealer will be nothing more than the facilitator of sending it to the service centre. You can do that too and to whom resides closest to you in your state.

Some of us may ctually like to see on in action first rather than buying on spec. For those in NSW maybe JVC will have one on demo. Some dealers may have one on display and here lies this paradox. Do you go to them an look at it as a prospective purchase and then buy from someone else who just 'shifts boxes'? This happens every where and it is up to the the dealer if they are willing to come to the party and by how much. If you are using their services then you should pay in part. For those members in W.A. you have already been advised in this regard re JVC and I am happy to accomadate.

I know many have expressed interest and it will then come down to crunch time when they will have to show a guesture of goodwill eg put down a deposit. When we have this then we (collectively) can go with real intent and firm the numbers. This will allow the store to do the deal! Its now just a matter of trying to firm up a good relationship with this dealer about real numbers within a margin of say 20% fall off. Many have talked about an educated number of units being purchased based on a confirmed number. At the moment this appears to be between 15 to 20 people. I am sure there are more, and in this instance once again we should join together and benefit collectively with one low and fair price for all.

Thanks

Ben

For 20% off I wouldnt have to demo at all,but that would be minimum. For 12% off I wouldn't waist your time to save 200 dollars, considering we can get 10% off retail for just one.

Just how soon do you think JVC will have the units in Ben,and I must add that your efforts on this are much appreciated.Keep up the good work.

The 20% is fall off rate nothing to do with price. Lets say we have 20 people seriously interested in the JVC and have registered their interest, deposit etc.... When quoting actual numbers fro pricing with the dealer. 20% fall off rate of 20 people is 16 so we need to allow a margin for the dealers to accurately give us a price. Lets say we dont allow this margin, and get a price based on 30 people intending to buy. Out of the 30 we only get 15 people actually going through the deal. Then it would be unfair for the dealer to give us a price on 30 when only 15 buy.

We need to be fair to them.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but the JVC which will be here in the first half of Feb will retail for $8999.

Edit: Old news sorry people.

No not in the PJ or electronics industry, I dont think I would have "cut it". I was accused once in sales of being too honest and on the customers side not the company! So I was asked to comply or leave.
