Hi all,

Does anyone have any ideas about alterate ways to order box office movies to run on an IQ box. I know the default is to order through the IQ box menu system whihc uses the connected phone line to dial up and processes the request, however what if you don't have a phone line connected to the IQ box?

I tried calling the Foxtel Box Office automated ordering phone service, but apparently this does not work for IQ boxes/services. It will order and enable you to watch the movie on any box linked to the account except for an IQ box/service.

When I called Foxtel they said there was no other way, you must have a line connected and order through the IQ box.

Has anyone else experianced and/over come this problem, or does anyone have any ideas?

By the way, I do have another box in another room on the same account, so could I simply order via the automated phone system and then swap the card from my non IQ box to my IQ box to watch the ordered movie?

Is your non IQ box connected direct to the phone line or via digipath transmitter / receiver?

If direct, just use the digipath that comes with the IQ (should come free with the IQ)

If using digipath, perhaps a second digipath transmitter (which could share a single reciever?)

I don't think swapping the cards will work.

No the other box is not connected to a phone line. I have no phone line in the house so the only way I can order is by calling the automated telephone service.

You can't switch the cards as they are linked to the boxes. The only way I think you could do it would be to order via phone but you would have to watch on your non IQ box.

AFAIK F0x doesn't marry the cards to the boxes, unlike AUSTAR.

If both boxes are the digital service, you don't have to order a movie to see if it works, as both boxes would be running the same NDS encryption, just swap the cards around and see if you get pics on both boxes.

Austar's cards are not married to their boxes. You can use the card in any appropriate I2 compatible box. You can not use the card in another Austar box as the boxes 'marry' the cards.

You can not use your Foxtel card in another Foxtel box.

I have an IQ box, which is connected to the phone line, but the phone line is always busy (24 hour dial up internet). You can still order and watch FBO movies, even though there is no avaliable line right now.

I guess a the end of the month it keeps trying to dial and eventually get's through.

Not sure what it will do without any phone line...
