metal beat Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Here are a few. Just imagine any of these in your living room. Keep more coming 3
kiwijosh Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 these people definitely do not have wives or girlfriends, imagine the nagging !! 1
cheekyboy Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Hi turntable, I don't have any to post at the moment but the last pic you posted is pretty bad but the second one................those speakers are just bloody hideous. Cheers, Keith

Aslan Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 There should be some interesting additions here turntable. Once you get past a conventional sized standmount it is incredibly difficult to design something domestically acceptable. The bigger they get, the harder it is.

metal beat Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 Jack, that horn system is wickedly terrible. The 2nd room looks like the Shun Mook reference room. excellently ugly!!
Guest guru Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 This one? evening jack, romy has visited these pages in the past and calling his speakers ugly will make you a marked man.you have been warned. regards,g.
Guest guru Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 the horn speakers in the first lot of photos are domestically challenging but there is at least 100k's worth of drivers sitting there at the beginning of those butt ugly horns. regards,g.
Aslan Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 This thread is purley for a bit of a laugh Lets hope nothing you have designed gets on the list I'm sure someone will feel compelled I struggle with some of those things Pymble HiFi sell...........Damned if I can remember the brand...........speakers that look like grandfather clocks. 1
jaspert Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 This room must be very musical... That's a good one. Are the varous violins/cellos there for room tuning purposes? I've seen some HK audiophiles using bird houses for room acoustic tuning. evening jack, romy has visited these pages in the past and calling his speakers ugly will make you a marked man.you have been warned. regards,g. My exact thought too.
wolster Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 A few might disagree with this but .. Darling, I have a surprise! Close your eyes and come into the lounge room to see the new speakers I bought just for you! 3
Aslan Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 legacy ?...... Bingo mate, thats the ones. They just seem too busy, retro and unnecessarily complex all at the same time.
Guest guru Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 the first one reminds me of terry j's speakers only in its decorative styling sense and hookup technique and the second proves that you can have to much of a good thing. regards,g.
RichardN Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 you know, I must be sad. I actually don't see anything bad or ugly about these. Some could be a bit tidier (is that a real word or have I just spelt it wrong??) I like the fact this hobby ranges from the downright weird/ugly (in someones views) to the beautiful and everything in between and some people can (and do!) create the most unusual systems or rooms, but it's a good talking point too. I know he's not around at the moment, but I'm surprised the original Frankens aren't here somewhere. I'm a big fan of function over form, always have been, I know I know, it's purely aesthetics, but some of these (hopefully a lot of them?) I expect will sound pretty good. You would hope so with some of the renovations required to fit them into the house! It's like cars, while I don't like the bling and stuff lots of folk do in modifying, it's their car and if they enjoy it, cool, not my cup of tea, BUT I am happy to spend (too much?) on making something go harder even if it looks a bit crap...... Anywho, am enjoying this thread and as mentioned above somewhere, it's good ammunition for the "Darling this is what I really want, but I guess I can have one of these instead" conversations that happen all the time.
emesbee Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Some of those might be ugly, but they look fascinating nonetheless. I'm sure I could live with most of them. (I'm middle-aged and single.... enough said. ) 1
Guest Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 dont know what they are - and dont want to - BUTT UGLY 1
