Guest EZYHD
Quick question about its IR direction, I have my Projector mounted in the ceiling directly above where I sit. Does the 880 fire the IR in all directions or just forward of where you are pointing it ? Its supposed to be in a direct line, however, my (880) bounces back and turns on my PJ which is mounted on the rear ceiling. I guess if your current remote works there is a good chance the 880 will also. Best of luck.

I will try it but if it doesn't work i'll have to go to the H890 with RF option which is an expensive option for one device in the same room thats not exactly out of sight and proberly means too the H890 needs to be sourced direct from the US instead from a local supplier. czzer
I think you'll find the IR will bounce off the screen quite easily. Mine had no problems bouncing off a plain painted wall. The Harmony emitters are generally at least as strong as the original remote's emitter, most times quite a bit stronger.

The Harmony emitters are generally at least as strong as the original remote's emitter, most times quite a bit stronger. I tried it and it didn't work (I didn't think it would). I even tried different walls. The front wall is painted with a TV inside it. The Projector screen drops down (motorised) in front of the tv and all the equipment sits below the screen drop. Hmmm looks like the H890 and RF option, having read some info around the place and it appears that in the short term it won't be available to retailers in Oz - just specialist installers (I don't think that arrangement will last long). Does anyone know where I can source one ?
Guest EZYHD
I think you can use an IR transmitter, that will bounce your signal to the Harmony, someone here should know.
czzer
I would try an 880, just get it frm somewhere you can return it if it doesn't work. It will probably have a stronger IR emitter than your original remote and may work as is. If not, as foxtail suggested, you can get an IR repeater and place it near your TV in the front of the room. It will receive the IR from the Harmony and fire it back out another emitter which you can point at the projector. Would be much cheaper than the 890. Yeah, jaycar has one for $75 -called a wireless remote control extender. For sure I can then use this as a last resort - thanks guys.
delbz
My folks just got a Harmony 880 and I have just finished setting it up. After about 2 hours we got it working well. We had to learn the buttons from the Foxtel Digital and Hitachi Plasma remotes, but the LG VCR, Teac STB, Voxson DVD and Yamaha Receiver all worked perfectly. I found the Harmony web-based wizards were pretty straight forward and solved a few problems we had. The main problem we had was the AV1 button on the plasma would toggle between video/s-video when switching between Foxtel and the DV-B300 - causing a blank picture each time. This was eventually resolved by using an AV selection via an on-screen source menu. The folks are pretty pleased that they can use one remote now. I was quite impressed by the whole process and are saving up for one now! PS - They bought it from ebay (MobileCiti) for $259 + postage and it was received 24 hours later! Lad
I have a Panny 500A, I put the coloured buttons in twice (rather than AV1, AV2 etc.) and changed the input times to longer to give it time to make the change, can't remember what there were at this point, if you find its taking to long to come on then slowly lessen the times. The other thing I found, you must keep the 880 pointed at the TV and devices until it clears the panel and reverts to the activity window. I hope this helps. With The Panny TV its a bit of hit and miss, was frustrating at the time but mine works OK now. Thanks Foxtail. I sorted it out just few hours after sending my post. All it was to set coloured buttons commands twice, with default 500ms delay. Works like a charm. Now I'm getting to understand the messy layout of the infamous website and I've set my remote do do everything I want. Now I retired seven remotes and using my Harmony (appropriate name, WifeApprovalFactor is very high).
jlambas1503560166
My 880 seems to reset itself about once a day. Very annoying as the wife cant understand how to rectify it.. ie how to get it back to the activity without actually launching it by covering the IR sender. Does anyone elses remote reset itself? Bat21
Have one problem with the 880 which I hope you champs can help me with. To set the scene, I have IQ connected to a Pana 500A by scart to component into AV4 and the STB DVI to HDMI. On the 880 activities, I have it set up as "watch TV with Fox" and this turns on the amp, IQ and TV with the amp switching to IQ mode and the AV4 as the default. This works fine. I have the 880 activities set for 'watch TV with STB" and this, of course, turns on the STB and the amp which switches to STB, IQ turns off and then the Pana after a delay of switches from AV4 to HDMI. This all works fine if this is what I use to start the day. However , if I have been watching TV with the STB and then use the 880 to "watch TV with fox" the TV will not switch back from HDMI to AV4 and I then have to press two buttons to get the display into AV4. I have the step into the STB activity to press green and then green again which is the funny way the pana uses colours to switch the display and this will work fine when switching from STB to Fox but stuffs up if I first tun on the "watch TV with Fox" activity. Does that all make sense and if so can anyone help? BTW, IMHO the 880 is a little wiz and the above is about the only problem and the only gripe I have is not being able to sort the order of the custome buttons. EvanOnTheGC
Mine was resetting itself as well. A simple refresh via the web site did the trick. Evan :->
shinrai
The left button on the thumb toggle is not working properly. It needs to be pressed hard to register. I thought these products were all electronic based. No springs etc?

Regards Spoke to soon. Not sure why but for some reason my channel favorite buttons down the right hand side have stopped working. The only change I have made to the system is that I changed my video connect between my STB and the TV from a 15pin RGB connection to a component connection. I can get the channels working by entering the channels themselves ie: 90 for 9 HD. On my media page I have selections for 9 SD on the left and 9 HD on the right. Only the left hand buttons are working correctly. I have also updated the remote from the website too. I have posted a question to Harmony support so will wait and see what they come back with. In the mean-time any advice would be appreciated. Regards PS: Has anybody got the link to the Aus Tv channel icons ?

Very annoying as the wife cant understand how to rectify it..ie how to get it back to the activity without actually launching it by covering the IR sender. Does anyone elses remote reset itself? Besides the obvious charging problem I had with my 880, it also use to reset itself. If I caught it, it would actually be performing a reboot, just as if I had updated it. I contacted Logitech support, and they told me this was related to the charging issue and was caused by a faulty battery connection inside the remote. They sent me a brand new 880 as a replacement (albiet with a US power pack!). New one is working flawlessly, however so did the old one after I jammed some paper between the bottom of the battery and the case. Might want to try this and see if it helps. Brash1503560040
I just bought my partner an iPod with universal docking station that has IR ability, but Apple as usual didn't supply the neccessary control... that'll be $50 Sir!!! Anyway, has anyone manager to get the Apple IR remote programed in to their 880 without the original remote. The Harmony site doesn't seem to mention it. czzer
I just had a look and found an Apple iPod Universal dock. Would this be the one?
