List your receivable radio stations :)

Only stations I can receive from my home location are listed on the table

below. I am located at Hurstville, sixteen kilometres south of the Sydney

CBD. Stations received on my car radio or my Sangean ATS-818CS radio with

default telescopic aerials, I'd probably get more stations if I had a proper

rooftop FM aerial :P. I'd apperciate it if someone can point me to where I

can find a logo for 1079 or Radio Middle East and how much power Cool

Country 88.0/88.7 broadcasts with. Apart from the ABCs, I can't get Newcastle stations.

Over 60 stations at last count here:

http://users.bigpond.net.au/wyp/sydney/fm.html

(Features station logos and links to radio websites)

I'm interested at to how many stations can be received elsewhere.

Only permenant reception stations are listed on site.

Gee you have a hard time tuning into Newcastle commercial. When I was in Sydney I thik about 2 years ago I got Newcastle Crisp and clear. I can get all of the Newcastle and Central Coast stations, Also the upper hunter, some New England Stations, North Coast Stations (Mainly Maxfm) Great Lakes FM Forster/Tuncurry, All Sydney Commercial although Tripple M Seems really crap. That's About it for me here in Newcastle.

I am also in Newcastle, and have also noticed that there appears to be something wrong with the MMM Sydney tranmission up this way lately (it only first happened a couple of weeks ago)..

It sounds like REALLY bad distortion or interference from something, but it occurs in most areas from Charlestown (just south of Newcastle) down to Ourimbah (on the F3 near Gosford) as I went down to Sydney last weekend and noticed that the MMM problem didn't really subside until I got up the hill south of Ourimbah.

So it doesn't seem to be 'localised' interference.

It is also variable.

And none of the other Sydney FM commercial stations were affected by this.

Where does 87.6 – Radio Austral, Radio Middle East, Beat FM transmit from?

Also to get so many channels what type of radio do you have? I have a sangean ats 909 but I get heaps of interference from the sydney fm with that here at pennant hills. Do you use an outdoor aerial? Esp those stations that are super close to sydney radio. Maybe its just where I live. Need to move to Oately:)

FYI mgaleano, the median house price in Oatley is $819,000, compared to where you live in Pennant Hills which is $630,000. This is according to The Sun-Herald 2005 Sydney Property Guide.

During tropo, the St George & Sutherland Shire areas are pretty good spots to pick Newcastle FM stations.

My radio is a Marantz SJ-450 (?) that was bought in the 80s. I can sometimes get Newcastle Commercial & ABC Manning River stations during tropo. I used to get Canberra Commercial FM stations (FM104.7 & MIX 106.3) in Minto sometimes around 6-7 years ago, but could not get it since. But I guess I don't have to complain that much because both of those stations are now streaming on the net.

How come 88.3 and 88.7 transmit so close in Campbelltown? I thought it  would not be allowed.

They are only low power services. 88.3 is just a WS repeat, a complete waste of spectrum in my opinion. Same with 99.1. The 101.7 service from Artarmon works fine in the Campbelltown and Penrith areas, in some cases, stronger than 88.3 and 99.1 respectively. WS don't even acknowledge the repeaters on-air.

The ABA should bite the bullet and declare WS FM as a Sydney station rather than a western sydney when it suits them. Get rid of 88.3 and 99.1.

They should move the 96.1 freq and transmit at 1K eastwards and 5 K westwards from the same site as 99.1. Then at Katoomba have a low power service for The edge in upper mountains. Perhaps 88.3 FM.

They do (well they used to) on there website.

It still is on their site, on the history/about page:

http://www.wsfm.com.au/misc/unfiledarticle...p?articleid=809

FIRST ANNOUNCER ON AIR: Bob Hughes

FIRST SONG PLAYED: Blacktown Boogie by Dragon

AM TRANSMITTER SITE: Prospect

FM TRANSMITTER SITE: Artarmon

EFFECTIVE RADIATED POWER (ERP): 80-100kw

TRANSLATORS: 88.3FM CAMDEN (South)

99.1FM WINMALEE (Blue Mountains District)

Btw, I can now get an Arabic sounding station across most of Southern Sydney on 93.9MHz, what is this? I'm surprised I can get this station considering its proxmity to 93.7MHz (Koori Sydney).

ABA invites applications for new community radio licence for Moss Vale, NSW

Any idea what frequency this new service will be on? I tried looking through the Nowra licence plan but couldn't find any info. If it is to broadcast on a clear frequency, it'll most likely be receivable in Sydney.

ABA invites applications for new community radio licence for Moss Vale, NSW

Any idea what frequency this new service will be on? I tried looking through the Nowra licence plan but couldn't find any info. If it is to broadcast on a clear frequency, it'll most likely be receivable in Sydney.

It's probably going to be broadcasting on 92.5 MHz. I remembered that "Southern Star FM", a community station for the Southern Highlands, can be heard very well in Campbelltown on that frequency when it was on air back in 1999/2000. It played mainstream music from the 70s to Today.

I'm sure that 92.5 service from Moss Vale would get in well into most parts of Sydney, except for those who already get 92.5 ABC from the Central Coast on a regular basis.

Yes I think you are right.

That all depends on the tx site and licenced ERP.

Hi, can any one tell me of a good radio to Purchase, which would allow me to pick up all the Regional Stations with wide frequency spacing, as apposed to alot of radios now-aday's being produced with very narrow frequency spacing, but im not looking for anything digital either. Please suggestions just Add it in a reply or PM me. thanks.
