Oasis in Melbourne at the same time as Metallica in Perth. First world problems. This is the place to be!

Thom Yorke

29th & 30th October Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

1st & 2nd November Sydney Opera House.

Just came across this thread...

Saw Thom at Sydney for night 2.

Traveled from Brisbane to see it, as he's a must see for me and he didn't disappoint.  Superb concert with a great range of songs from his career.

I'm coming to Sydney from Adelaide to see Pearl Jam on the 21st. I haven't booked a return flight yet. Wondering if there is any gigs worth checking out on Friday the 22nd. My taste in music is predominantly punk rock. Bad Dreems, West Thebarton, COFFIN, Cosmic Psychos, Stiff Richards are all on high rotation currently. Any suggestions?

Might get a Melbourne ticket to see these 3 atleast.

I stepped out to Max Watts last night to see the stand alone show by Leprous.   I have been a fan for the past 5 years or so, but it was the 1st time I have seen them.

Lordy, lordy they were truly stunning.   I said to the gent next me...."I think we a seeing something very special here tonight."

Leprous hail from Norway and are built around the falsetto vocals of Einar Solberg.   The band is Prog/Djent based for the most part, but it doesn't stop there.     Throughout the 110 minute show they showed glimpses of Operatic, Movie soundtrack (Some of the tunes would do Dune justice), Jazz and Avant-Garde musical stylings.

It was an amazing performance of sustained musical talent.   Einar's vocals were amazing considering the effort he puts in on stage.    His dancing and that of the bands was somewhat of a demented Praying Mantis variety, but it was highly entertaining.     On top of that he is a very gifted story teller with a rich sense of humor.

Fans of drummers should check out Baard Kolstad.    I am sure he is one of the world's best.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj6fM2KpyOA&t=41s

Fans really went off and provided the sort of feedback the band thrived on.    Plenty of love in the room.

Huge props to the sound guy and his light show side kick.   Perfecto.

Brilliant show.    If you are still in Melbourne, then grab some of the last tickets to the Monolith Festival on Saturday.

Einar Solberg – lead vocals, keyboards (2001–present)

Tor Oddmund Suhrke – guitars, backing vocals (2001–present)

Baard Kolstad – drums (2014–present)

Simen Børven – bass, backing vocals (2015–present)

Robin Ognedal – guitars, backing vocals (2017–present)

Raphael Weinroth-Browne – cello, keyboards, backing vocals (2017–2024)

Professor Alice Roberts appearing at the State Theatre in Sydney on November 28.

Who is Prof Alice Roberts?

I’m an academic, writer and broadcaster. I’m interested in the structure of humans, how we function, and our place in the wider environment.

I’m fascinated by human biology and history – and although these are often considered to be separate subjects, they are intertwined and inseparable.

Going to Pearl Jam on the Gold Coast this Wednesday.. absolute terrible stadiium to be playing, especially on a weeknight. Horrendous to get in and out of.

Looking forward to the gig, not the process of getting there and getting home. Don't know why they're playing on the GC instead of Brisbane. Might explain why there's PLENTY of tickets still available (this price would also be a factor).

Just bought tickets to see Fontaines D.C. , with Wunderhorse as the support act in Brisbane on  01 March 2025.

Nils Frahm March 14-15 and Hania Rani Feb 20-21

Managed to get 2 tickets to HR @ Recital centre in Melbourne. Her show on Feb 21 sold out!

NF shows, not too many seats left for either concerts.

Saw NF back in 2018, great concert.

I'm going to the GC gig too. Haven't seen PJ since their heyday in '95 (Eatern Creek...was hectic to say the least!). Really looking forward to the gig but have never been to the Carrara stadium though, doesn't sound too great from your description though 😕

I saw them there at the 2014 Big Day Out, and inside the venue is fine if you are in GA....Oval stadium seating though is not great for concerts IMO.

The issue with the stadium is getting there and getting out of it. I know people that have been in the last 1-2 years for big concerts (P!NK, Harry Styles etc) and the wait for shuttle buses was extensive and the exits out of the stadium were limited, so getting actually out of the stadium too a long time. Hopefully it's been improved, but I doubt it.

Just hope the predicted storms stay away from that area

Thanks, that's good to know. The predicted storms are a bit of a worry.

Yeah...looking like there will be storms rolling through SEQLD all afternoon and possibly evening...just hope they stay away from Carrara

The gig ended up being delayed for about 1.5hrs due to the storm, but it settled down quickly after that. PJ were pretty great though I think they had to shorten the set a little due to the delay. Pixies were quite underwhelming. You were right about it being a nightmare getting out after though; took ages to exit the stadium and then a long wait for buses and then tram.

Took me 3.5 hours to get to the area, then a 30 minutes walk from where we parked. Normally a 1 hour 15 minute journey at the same time of day.

Thankfully I scoped it out weeks ago, and found somewhere to park that was in opposite direction to the majority and we were back at our car 35 minutes after concert ended. So trip home was a lot better than trip there.

Band were great and seemed genuinely excited to be playing.

Roisin Murphy touring in March 2025

< RÓISÍN MURPHY | Queen of the avant-garde announces Australian tour for March 2025

15 Nov 2024

MG Live and Frontier Touring are delighted to welcome back Ireland’s electronic indie pop queen Róisín Murphy down under in March 2025 for her first Australian headline shows in over five years.

The Mercury Music Prize nominated avant-garde artist will play The Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane on Tuesday 11 March and Enmore Theatre, Sydney on Thursday 13 March. Murphy will also play Live at the Gardens, Royal Botanical Gardens, Melbourne on Friday 7 March.  Tickets via liveatthegardens.com.au.

Frontier Member presale commences Monday 18 November 11am local time before tickets go on sale Wednesday 20 November 11am local time.  Tickets via frontiertouring.com/roisinmurphy

Róisín Murphy is also confirmed to play WOMADelaide, Adelaide South Australia on Saturday 8 March and WOMAD Aotearoa, New Plymouth, New Zealand on Saturday 15 March.

With her indomitable artistic spirit, Róisín Murphy is one of electronic pop’s most ingenious and forward-thinking voices. Murphy first became known in the ’90s as part of the successful pop duo Moloko but has since forged an illustrious and critically acclaimed career as a solo artist.

"a showcase of everything impressive about the musician sapped of the excitement that has historically made her work feel so vital" - Pitchfork

"Vastly under-appreciated, she is a creative powerhouse. Innovative, daring and most of all unpredictable." - The Arts Desk

"[Hit Parade] contains some of Murphy's most infectious melodies to date" - Slant Magazine

"some of the most euphorically danceable music she's ever made" The Independent >

Check out a recent show!

< The unclassifiable Róisín Murphy shows how difficult it is to pigeonhole her once again at Paris' Ground Control, where she displays all the richness and eclecticism of a discography stretching back to the 90s. >

I caught the The last night, possibly the end of their Aus tour. Wow, a great show, particularly the second set, which was all their greatest songs. This Is The Day was really memorable, as were all of their greatest songs. Matt also warmed up by act 2 and talked a lot more.
in the 17 years between the last 2 tours he had been involved in urban conservation and political stuff .
next thing will be to look up concerts with Johnny Marr

Green has a great voice.   The album he did with Pink is killer.    Some of the best duo vocals ever recorded IMHO.

Enjoy.
