What I would like to know is the height off the floor of one of those $300-$400 100" pulldown screens are? The thing would have to be ceiling mounted about 1m away from the wall. My room height from floor to ceiling is 276cm (higher than standard). I really want a pulldown screen that will be only 1/2 to 1m above floor level. Is this possible??

Many new Pj's need a screen with a gain of about 1.0 the cheap ones on eBay are glass beaded and are 2.0 gain, that's why they are cheap. I have 96" dia Screentechnics chain pull its about 2m across x 1.3 down paid $700. Most screens do have about 20cm black at the top so it will depend on your ceiling height and screen size to how far it will drop. Also where your Pj is placed, height and lens throw. Talk to a local Hi Fi store person (probably not Hardly Normal).
