kp2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Hi, I just purchased the Teac DVB300 from Target for $93.00 Is it safe to upgrade to software to the current version. I understand this will fix the SBS and 10 Program guide problem. Anyone done this!! Kim
delbz Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 What version of software came with it? I can't see why it wouldn't be upgradeable.
gclark8 Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Have a look in the old forum, under SD boxes, it was much discussed here.
MelwayMan Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Hi There, A friend of mine bought one from Target a couple of months back and we upgraded it successfully from 1.03 to 1.06. I haven't seen him to do the 1.07 update yet, but for a good stable SD box, you've got yourself a bargain. Much better than the Wintel I've got here... Tim
kenneth1503559512 Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Good price for a good box. It's easy and safe to upgrade the firmware. You just need the right type of serial cable (ie. a null-modem. Make sure you hunt around and be sure that you are getting a null-modem cable and not a straight-through serial cable). And then you will need to download the latest firmware and the upgrade program from Teac. From there it's a breeze.
Wired1503559622 Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Is this a special at Target? and if so when does it end? or were they just shifting some old stock at your store?
kp2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Author Posted November 5, 2004 Thanks for the replies. The firmware is 1.02 Yes a special at Target for about $110.00 but with 15% off (Finishes Today) 5th November, I got it for $103.00. I'll make sure I get the null-modem cable. Many thanks, Kim

Mine did it. Was mentioned on the Teac site also
