Paul1503559514 Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Hi all. Just wondering for those who have recently had Foxtel Digital installed, which decoder box did you receive? I'd much prefer the Pace box but even if requested, doubt that I'd actually get it going by what others on the forums have been saying. Which boxes are they installing at the moment?

DannyR Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Everyone wants a pace! Besides the new component output of the Pace unit and its neater appearance, is there really a difference in practical terms? Don't get me wrong I think the Pace unit seems to be better, but thge UEC might not be as bad as everyone makes out. Who knows, Foxtel may provide a component output on the UEC box if its possible. Danny.

Paul1503559514 Posted November 3, 2004 Author Posted November 3, 2004 I've been holding out for them to update the firmware to add component capability (which will hopefully be sorted soon) and connect optical sound through my AV receiver to let that do all the switching. I wonder if it's worth getting one of those self upgrade kits to ensure I get the Pace box?

jkipsd Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 hi who has received the digital uec box recently. i have signed up and received this sub standard av sound box to my disgust. foxtel advertise the new box on there website and make no mention of this old box. also in your package you receive 14 channels with 5.1 dolby , but clearly you dont get it with foxtel's uec refurbished box. i would like to talk anyone not happy with there situation as i am in the early stages of takin them through the legal processes based on their deception's and bad customer relations. scott Hi all. ZOS Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 I must get Foxtel to Pickup my spare Pace sat box which I got by mistake. I got a self install get back in July by mistake. Only thing is I've missplaced the remote. Strange as I left it in the box and plastic wrapper and never used it. I was keeping the box till they asked (yes have told them I have it) to have it back. It would be nice as a spare in case my one dies. But would not one lucky person out there prefer to be putting it to good use. But if my dies will it get repaired or would they just give a UEC box. I dont use the 5.1 at the moment but the yuv I realy enjoy and the epg doing all the extra things (as it did on the old sat UEC box). Any what do you all think I should do. Zos

BigBobOz Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Just got Foxtel digital installed yesterday and got three pace boxes. Very happy Was really looking forward to hopefully upgrading them for component output but as many have noticed it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Some people seem to still be able to get it though. Could it be possible that it is available at different times in the day? Just a thought... Rob

marvinsmith Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Folks, I have a UEC DSD-1000 (http://www.uec.co.za/sa/products/DSD1000.htm), but I understand from another link, that there may be other UEC STBs around. Please confirm. Thanks. Vince

Instead of doing the sensible thing and asking subscribers about their system and providing them with the most appropriate box, they just turn up with what they have. I asked for a Pace box and all they could provide was an refurbished ? UEC. My Sister who has an 8 year old 51 cm TV and no home theatre system ended up with a Pace. Foxtel's comment was that most people have basic TV services so they base their service on that level of equipment. As Foxtel s-video is unwatchable on my plasma I cancelled my order for digital and my existing "analogue" satellite service.
