CliffofOz1503559525 Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Hi, Anyone else have a problem with their 5290 stuffing up the date today? Changed it for daylight saving yesterday - no problem. Today, I noticed at 6.00pm, the Strong thought it was 00:05 on 2004-12-01...a month out, plus time out by 18 hours. All my weekly timer settings got screwed up too...all future dated to dates in December. Bit of a pain to change, but not a huge drama. Can't say I'm surprised...the flakey 5290 has never been a piece of equipment to be replied upon. FYI, running the latest firmware downloaded from Hantrex. Cheers Cliff
DavidR Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Had the same problem. It went to 1/12/04 and the time was out by 10 hours. Had to manually reset and it has now come good. BTW I'm not running the Hantrex-supplied firmware, I am still running the beta given to me by Strong a couple of months ago,
Basil1503559642 Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Hi 'ME TOO', exact same problem, however now my weekly recordings are working again(well 31/10 and 01/11 did) since reset. The last couple of Months the Box turned on but did not record any weekly settings, i was about to erase them when I found the date had jumped forward to 01/12. Roll on 2005 so I can buy HD PVR's that hopefully work. Regards Basil
DavidR Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 An update. The 5290 was set to record The Bill last night at 8:30. Usually it switches over from whatever channel it's on, but this time it didn't. Checked the timer list, the entry was still there but the date had changed to the next week. I will see how it goes with recording CSI:Miami tonight.
CliffofOz1503559525 Posted November 3, 2004 Author Posted November 3, 2004 Thanks for the feedback guys - bit of comfort in knowing that it wasn't just me I'm with you Basil - HD PVR can't come soon enough. Wonder who will get in first - Strong or Topfield or someone maybe even someone else? Cliff
DavidR Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 My 5290 failed again to record CSI. Should have switched over at 8:30, but didn't. It was power-cycled the previous night, so it obviously needed more than that. I did a factory reset, and manually recreated all timer recordings. If this doesn't work I'll send a mail to Strong looking for suggestions. BTW I am still running the beta of the 2.02 firmware.
DavidR Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 An update. Factory reset and recreating timer entries has fixed the problem. Well, when I tested it last night it did. Time will tell whether it's totally fixed.
CliffofOz1503559525 Posted November 5, 2004 Author Posted November 5, 2004 Hi David, First time around I missed the factory reset requirement too. Still have issues with it, but it's never missed a scheduled timer event...though I tend to make sure it's turned off beforehand... just to make sure:) Cliff
Basil1503559642 Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Hi Update!, everything back to normal, weekly recordings of ABC on Sunday(Rewind) and SBS on Monday(South Park and Pizza) failed . Box turns on but does not record, although I back up recordings on VHS its 'Bloody' annoying. Box is only(nearly) 2 years old , and will try new software update when non-games version is released, but already useless. On same theme did some shopping on the Gold Coast last weekend and Salesmen at JB and HN(and even Myers) all said we will have at least 6 HD PVR's on market early 2005. This time I will wait for reviews before buying. Regards Basil
