Are the SCART to 6 RCA (3 in, 3 out) for daisy chaining?

In other words, if I were to get something similar for my Foxtel digital, would I be able to have my DVD component leads carrying the signal into Foxtel, and piggy backing on the out component leads from Foxtel to my TV, enabling Foxtel and DVD to use the same component input on the tv?

Hope this makes sense. I'm trying to work out a way for my DVD and Foxtel digital to share the same component input on my TV. The second component input on my TV doesn't accept either of them.

The scart supports in and out, but typically the YUV/RGB is in one direction only.

I have my SCART-RGB DVD player connected to my STB VCR-SCART , then the STB VCR-SCART connected to the TV, and the RGB from the DVD player will make it all the way through the system to the TV.

So, to get your component DVD player hooked up to your component TV through a dual scart STB, you will need:

*2xSCART to 3RCA adapter (often called scart to RGB or scart to YUV).

*A STB that allows you to manually swap the signal (as normally the auto-passthru works by another line in the scart triggering it, or the STB being powered off). This button is typically called TV/SAT on the couple of STBs I have seen with the passthru option.

*A STB that allows full RGB/YUV passthru. The Strong 5290 only allowed composite or svideo or something, but not full RGB.

If your DVD player was really a recorder, then if you had a fully wired scart connected to that VCR-SCART socket, there is a composite signal that travels back in the other direction in the SCART (so STB towards VCR) that enables you to record the STB. This is why the SCART sockets are dircectional with both in and out conductors. RGB (and YUV which shares the same conductors although was never part of the orig scart standard) is NOT directional. Typically the STB will allow RGB-IN via the VCR-SCART and RGB-OUT via the TV-SCART, to support daisy chaining of RGB devices.

However, I don't know the specifics of your STB, some people are making claims that if you choose RGB in the box, then both the TV and VCR scart connectors send RGB out, which is not my experience with my own STB or reading up on the SCART daisy chaining specifics.
