Has anyone seen the "Available in High Definition" graphic at the start of HD shows on Channel Nine SD or analogue? I haven't seen it in ages although it's usually always there on HD. Nine really should be showing the "Available in High Definition" graphic on SD and analogue to help get the HD message out there and prehaps convince people thinking about HD to jump aboard knowing the shows they watch are broadcast in HD.

HD should be promoted far more than it is.

In Sydney I see it all the time on SD DIGITAL. Perth receives the network crossbar and so it is up to Perth or Melbourne or Brisbane PC's to put up the message themselves...

Sorry the "add replay" is screwed up.

The graphic for SD on 9 is small left/bottom of screen now. HD is uncahnged as far as I know.

I haven't seen in on the SD. Its pretty smart to have it only on the HD!

I didn't see it on Willy Wonka last night but the HD signal had the HD logo. I'd like to see some more consistancy regarding the available in HD logo. It should be on every HD program unconditionally.

I've also been told in Adelaide on last nights Saturday night at the movies screen for Willy Wonka, they had a voiceover saying "Welcome to Nine's Saturday Family Movie, available in High Defintition". Perth gets nothing like that. Unless you were watching Willy Wonka on the HD channel there is pretty much no way of knowing that it was broadcast in HD. None of the TV magazines have WS or HD flags.

Once again, Nine Adelaide prove they're the best at HD with the best promotion of HD and the best bitrates.

Hell, I'd be happy if they put a "Full Definition SD" graphic up at the start of anything worthy!

And, yes, champ, I was joking - though I suspect you got that!

What'd be a good idea would be to have:

*Graphic at start of programme on both SD & HD stating whether its available in true HD.

*Graphic on all ads (promos) containing the HD and/or WS symbol where appropriate.

In fact, there's no reason this wasn't mandated from the start of digital!

I'd like to see Nine Perth follow the Adelaide Saturday Night At the movies example. I'd also like to see some "Channel Nine now transmitting in 1080i High Definition" station IDs like some Fox stations are doing in the US. Ads for High Definition shows should also have HD mentioned.

I'm happy that Nine Perth have steered clear of any watermarks during programs. Every other Nine station have a full time watermark and even the regionals (WIN and NBN) do.

I agree, Nine Adelaide does have the best HD promotion. And yes, HD super is bottom left on SD at the start (or near the start) of all programmes avail. in HD.

I've been told in Adelaide that Nine put HD logos on their ads for HD programs and for HD movies and special events, it will be mentioned in the voiceover that a movie is HD and/or 5.1. In Perth we're lucky to get the available in HD graphic on SD and analogue.

Yes indeed, Nine Adelaide does seem to go that extra mile.. which is good to see.

And, good for us folk who like to be informed. Well done Nine! Fingers crossed for Perth!

This is the "Available in HD" banner shown on Nine in Brisbane (and I assume on the other PBL stations).

That used to be shown in Perth on the SD and analogue. I believe it was the same banner (or it might have been "presented in high definition"). Either way, it used to be there. I see an updated one on the HD channel (but I only watch the HD channel, so I wouldn't know about the SD channel).
