par Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 I just purchased a Homecast HD STB and connected it to the TV. Whilst the SD via SVideo PQ is fine, 1080i via Component appears to have a 50Hz flicker and is vastly inferior to the SD PQ. Should the TV be displaying in 100Hz?
humphrey Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I also have the same panasonic r/p tv via dgtec set top box however whether or not sd or hd it is still via component connection and the tv will not allow you to change 100 hz or progressive when it is receiving component hd picture it must set itself i presume hope this helps.sounds like the problem is in connection or something else.

Mine flickers as if the 100Hz were set to OFF (I realize that it is not manually configurable when displaying component, but that is what it looks like).

I dont notice the flicker with my 47 inch TV @ 1080i/50, but my daughter does... Its person specific. Some notice it, some don't.
davids1503559831 Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I have the same setup as you and also notice the flicker. I used to have the DGTECH 2000A and did not notice any flicker with that. BUT the pixelation and colors were terrible. This is fixed with the Homecast, but the flicker is annoying. I just purchased a Homecast HD STB and connected it to the TV.
