adelaideviewer Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 Hi all, I'm thinking of buying the Toshiba model but just wondering if anyone has a comment on how it compares to the Panasonic similar model - the E85 I think it is. Any reason to go for one over the other? I think pricing is similar. Thanks Ian Adelaide
ritesh Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 Hi all,I'm thinking of buying the Toshiba model but just wondering if anyone has a comment on how it compares to the Panasonic similar model - the E85 I think it is. Thanks Ian Adelaide <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can help you give you a list of differences between the units; may be that will help make you decide.... Panasonic over Toshiba Panasonic is much easier to use than the Toshiba Panasonic's MPEG Encoder is of slightly higher quality than the Toshiba Toshiba over Panasonic Panasonic doesn't have the DV input (i.e. Firewire) Toshiba has much more powerful editing features; it is like having a mini-Editing suite in the box ! As an example of above, Panasonic doesn't allow thumbnails for the chapter points, Toshiba is the only player that has this feature. If you want ease of use, go for Panasonic, if you want powerful editing features; go for Toshiba...... If you can wait a few months, then I suggest you do that; as both have new models on the horizon... Panasonic has the E95; whilst Toshiba has the X52 (with HDMI and upscaling) coming up. cheers, Ritesh
