I am in the market to but a dvd recorder but am worried about how I can hook it up.

I currently use a Sony QS series digital amp, Austar digital, LG HD STB, LG 42"Plasma and a Toshiba DVD player.

I have never hooked a vcr up to this system as things were getting complicated.

I used to use the Sony receiver as a switcher and my old Sony Vega as just a monitor, but upon getting the plasma, quality ruled supreme and now the amp is just running sound.

How hard is it to set up a dvd recorder to work on this system?

Any help app. before I buy.

Hi Sonyman.

I suggest to buy a DVD recorder with at least 2 inputs so the STB and Austar box can both be recordered. Then output the DVD recorder to the TV.

You could also have your amp output to the recorder and switch inputs on the amp. It depends on how many spare inputs/outputs you have and how much electricity you are prepared to use.

So do I pass thru the recorder or keep it seperate, as the STB and Austar Digital have multi outputs.

I want to use DVI to the plasma for the HD STB, and the Austar Digital box has only s-video and composite.
