Vertical Mount

Recommended Posts

actually I ran the first teac hd box I had vertically till it went back - no moving parts inside a stb so if does not impact on cooling - I see no reason they cannot be run vertically. Think the media star hd box comes with a stand to mount vertically (By the way the current teac HD box I have must be good enough to keep - its found a place in the equipment rack and having a lie down in there at present)

Is it the sony ps2 that stands up too.

how do the dvd disc drive mechanisms go working vertically I wonder?

but yes laurie starting to run out of shelf space with all these boxes, half width components or standing up ones that take up less space are sure starting to look attractive now!

Many manufacturers design the bottom tray of most electrical devices to catch molten solder, should the unit short circuit and over heat. The trays are designed to miminise the threat of a household fire.

Standing such a unit on it's end obviously doesn't allow the inbuilt safety design to work, and increases the risk of fire should the unthinkable happen.
