I note Ten, having now concluded its standard AFL evening commitments, is getting back to putting the "crime shows" on saturday.

Can anyone from the Eastern States (or the non-AFL ES) tell me whether you've been getting the "Monk" series of late? {OK, I know most people here wouldn't watch it - it almost borders on "family TV", but it kind of grows on you, in a harmless sort of way} The Perth audience was dudded out of many episodes last year, so I dont know whether we'll get the ones we missed/repeats/a handful of disjointed new ones?

Pity they are putting the wishy-washy overly moralistic Hack on before the much better (IMNSHO) Shield.

Anyway - well done Ten for putting some decent stuff on (for however long we get before it dissappears again...)

I saw that promo too, not how Hack and The Shield at 9:30 and 10:30 had All New next to them? So it seems that Monk at 7:30 is a repeat.

I'm pretty sure we usually always get AFL on Saturday nights... Brissy vs Geelong last night was great. Channel surfed between that and the Broncos vs Cowboys game on Nine. Very entertaining viewing.

BTW: Did anyone see Cracker last night?

I'd seen the ads (done by the ABC Decept-O-Vision® department*, from memory) which made the PQ look horrendous.

Saw the first 15 mins - yep... absolutely disgusting PQ!

Santa,

In a similar vein to "season return" what is the go with TV stations promoting their shows as being "all-new"? Is this different from "new" (as in not seen before), or is there such a thing as "partially new"? I don't know if I want to watch a slightly used episode when I could be watching "all-new"!

Nah - its just dumbass marketing hype introduced by seven when it brought in all its current "red hyper" crap (ad voiceover kid with annoying immature giggly voice, red splashy shyte everywhere, etc)... some marketing w*nk*rs thought people loved this "fizzy" type of bullsh*t! (ala All New Blackbean Coke®, etc) .. we're supposed to "get exited" by this kind of cr*p.

santa, in the TV guide up here, there are no repeat markers next to any of the shows (hack, monk etc..) so looks like there all new shows

Yeah Monk was new (to WA at least) - pity about the 4:3.

The PQ of the shows was pretty good (not watched The Shield back yet, though).

Hack was sanctimonious as ever...

The Handler was pretty good (lose the hat, though ... PLEASE!) - a bit wierd seeing the same characters in different roles in all these shows these days... that main character/ex-lawer guy from Oz as a cop, as well as the lead/handler (truly EX-mafia)....

Monk, Hack, The Shield and OZ are great shows. Some of the best on FTA if you ask me. Forget all that Law and Order, CSI, NCIS, Without A Trace, Cold Case etc. crap!

NCIS is OK for a lightweight, and Without A Trace can be quite good.

Dont watch the others (with reason!)

Anyway, if you're talking about the best...

Sopranos

6 Feet

Oz

... then the rest!

Haven't seen 6 feet under, I tried watching a bit of it but not properly. Is it worth investing time in?

I'm missing the AFL allready ... Can't wait till next March for season 2005 !

Why do we get AFL so god damn late ? I'm in Canberra and we get Friday night AFL games at around 11pm (finishing close to 2 AM !) on WIN and then on Southern Cross Ten we get a live Saturday afternoon game (yay) but usually get a midnight delay of the the Sat. night game. The exception is if the swans are playing, then we get it only slightly delayed. I think this is exactly the same as Sydney & Brisbane.

During Finals, Southern Cross Ten lifted their game and showed all finals live - Like they bloodly well should!)

Can't wait for the next AFL television agreement (starting 2006?). Rumour has it that the AFL will play hard ball and demand live coverage of Friday & Saturday night games into Canberra, Sydney & Brisbane (and prolly W'Gong & Newcastle as well). Channel 9 cannot do this cos they show the thugs & morons game (Rugby League) on Friday nites then the AFL.

Channel 7 might be in the box seat!

Steve

PS Love The Sheild - First cop show to show (some) cops being cops - i.e. corrupt! Anyone remember Fitzgerald enquiry? (QLD) and whats happening now in Melbourne?

I really hope Seven don't get the AFL rights back. 4:3 AFL anyone?

Certainly, but you'd have to start from the start! (It was at its best then, anyway). To just jump in doesn't do it or you justice!

No thanks! Even if its just to keep their ratings rock bottom!

Maybe if they moved to 720p, I might think otherwise!

NB: I'm often under the flight-path of Stoke's bloody GulfStream*! When you're already pissed off at the stations incompetence and bastardry (incl. to its own employees), having the bastard zoom over time and time again does little to keep the temperature down!

*OK, theres a slim chance its not Stokes', but there are only about three of those "high flying CEO bastards" with personal jets in Perth.
