max gain Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Does anyone experience audio splats and vision breakup on an intermittent basis. I have a early Thompson STB, signal indicators show 100% quality and about 50% power on all channels. Really frustrating as the audio splats are quite loud
alanh Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Max gain, That is some gain in your antenna system which gets around another 3 dB from stacking. Do you have a long or blocked path to the Mt Tamborine site? AlanH
flytiger41 Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Does anyone experience audio splats and vision breakup on an intermittent basis. I have a early Thompson STB, signal indicators show 100% quality and about 50% power on all channels. Really frustrating as the audio splats are quite loud I get that on NBN & NINE,. The signal is about 50% & the quality is often 100%, but jumps up & down a little bit! The sound on the NINE EPG is rally choppy, and when I go to ANY channel after that the sound on that channel take a while to come on ( 3 seconds maybe) . Mine is a TEAC dvb300, with all the latest software upgrades. TEAC say "talk to the station"... I really believe that there is someting wrong with the NINE/NBN stream, and the old box is more sensitive to it than most! Not Happy Neil
max gain Posted September 18, 2004 Author Posted September 18, 2004 Alanh, I dont have a digital signal strength meter so my existing antenna system is optimised for analog. Average signal strength is about 45dB and until construction began on Mt. Tamborine was perfect( except SBS, sound vision ratio at -19). Max Gain
max gain Posted September 18, 2004 Author Posted September 18, 2004 Alanh, Yes I do have a large obstruction to Mt. Tamborine. I am hoping that some of my problems will disappear when and if Mt. Tamborine is transmitting at full power. Ive read in some other posts that currently Mt. Tamborine is only at 50% capacity. Im currently in the process of purchasing a Teac DV-B400 hopefully this may also help. Max Gain
benq projector Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Try turning your antenna slowly away from Tambo, to get a reflection. Or maybe towards Currumbin.
max gain Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 Try turning your antenna slowly away from Tambo, to get a reflection.Or maybe towards Currumbin. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Currumbin is absolutely dead here.
Tweet Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Max Gain, If you're using a masthead amplifier, try turning down the gain a little bit and see if that helps. C.M
alanh Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 benq projector, Currumbin is vertically polarised so the antenna has to be rotated in the vertical plane, so that the elements point towards the ground. AlanH
GoldCoastDig Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 I had all these problems in benowa and could not understand checked every thing Untill it hit me somethinnk I'd read about digital interference from other electrical goods Solution Quad Cable RJ6 threw away the vedio cable that came with the unit and replaced it with an RJ6 lead Everything is perfect So simple that you sometime over look it Hiope this helps other users
